Aaron Rodgers and Jets coach Robert Saleh have tense exchange on sideline after scoring touchdown against Patriots

  • Aaron Rodgers found Allen Lazard for an early Jets touchdown on Thursday
  • But many fans thought his celebration with coach Robert Saleh was odd

Aaron Rodgers and Jets coach Robert Saleh had a slightly testy moment caught on camera Thursday night after New York took an early lead over the Patriots.

Rodgers connected with Allen Lazard on a 10-yard pass to give the hosts a 7-0 lead, and the quarterback was greeted by a pumped up Saleh as he came off the field.

But as the coach enthusiastically grabbed his quarterback in celebration, Rodgers appeared to tell him it was ‘too early’ to be getting that excited.

Rodgers then gave Saleh a light shove and glared at him for a couple of seconds  before they went their separate ways.

Fans quickly picked up on the awkwardness of the exchange after Amazon Prime Video – who broadcasts Thursday Night Football – posted video of the moment on X.

‘Talk about an absence of affection,’ one fan said.

‘Awkward. AR is a great quarterback but a real a**hole,’ another added.

‘I’m not gonna lie. I find this a bit concerning. I understand it’s Aaron Rodgers. But such a disrespectful look along with a bit of a brushback cannot be good,’ a third chimed in.

Other fans had a very different interpretation for what Rodgers said, with some claiming that he said ‘they dont score all night’ in an encouraging manner to Saleh – referring to the Jets’ stout defense.

Nonetheless, Jets fans will likely be unconcerned with whatever Rodgers said to Saleh, as they went on to comfortably win 24-3.
