An inmate named David Cassidy is about to set to receive a taxpayer-funded “sex change” operation in Georgia. That alone would be worthy of scorn, but the story gets much wilder.

Cassidy first made the news back in April of 2024 when the Department of Justice indicted him for making and sending bombs to various federal agencies. Among the buildings targeted was one that held a DOJ office. Cassidy was already serving a life sentence in state prison for various crimes committed in Georgia, including aggravated sodomy, terrorist threats, and forgery. That last one will become especially ironic momentarily.

His criminal record is extensive and varied, encapsulating a breadth of offenses that have led to multiple convictions in counties across Georgia. Notably, Cassady was convicted in Tattnall County for terrorist threats and acts on two separate occasions in 2019, each time receiving a sentence of five years. These instances were part of a pattern of behavior that also included false statements to government entities, gang participation, and conspiracy.
Perhaps most alarmingly, Cassady’s record includes convictions for aggravated sodomy in Gwinnett County, with crimes committed as far back as 1988, reflecting a history of severe sexual offenses. Alongside these are charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and impersonating an officer.
At the time of those reports in April, none of the news outlets had any idea David Cassidy claimed to be “transgender.” That’s why they all referred to him as a man. Further, the DOJ’s indictment addressed Cassidy as a man.

It wasn’t publicly revealed until July that Cassidy had been suing the Georgia Department of Corrections to receive a “sex change” operation as part of his “gender-affirming care” routine, which already includes taxpayer-funded hormone treatments. That’s because the lawsuit he filed was under the name “Jane Doe.” Yes, the guy with multiple forgery convictions is a man who wants to “become” a woman.”
That’s where things get even crazier. The same DOJ that charged Cassidy in April for trying to bomb the DOJ, filed an amicus brief in support of Cassidy’s lawsuit to receive a taxpayer-funded “sex change” surgery” in January. So the DOJ was investigating Cassidy as a man (eventually charging him as one in court documents) while another sector of the DOJ was filing an amicus brief claiming Cassidy is a woman who should receive “gender-affirming care” in prison. You can’t make this stuff up.
Now, Cassidy is set to receive the operation after the “Gender Dysphoria Committee” recommended it.
UPDATE: In perhaps the most irony-laden story I’ve ever broken, the U.S. government has agreed to give a sex change to an inmate who tried bombing the U.S. government.
I uncovered this inmate’s identity in July, but the Trump shooting happened 2 days later and it never received… https://t.co/b2ynTgrUOD pic.twitter.com/qGSrV7sbjP

Do you want to know why Donald Trump won the election? This is part of the reason. The U.S. government is objectively insane. In this case, the DOJ charged a man with federal crimes while the activists within the agency were fighting to treat him as a “woman” complete with a taxpayer-funded “sex change” surgery. Normal people see this type of stuff, and they are sick of it. They don’t want to pay for “gender-affirming care” for violent criminals (or anyone for that matter).
This story is yet another reason why the DOJ needs a complete overhaul, and I don’t just mean firing a few agency heads. The rank-and-file are just as guilty of perpetuating these woke policies. Hopefully, Pam Bondi understands what she’s walking into and that she’s ready to do what it takes.
