Biden and Trump Issue Statements on the NOLA Terrorist Attack, and Hoo Boy, What a Difference

Happy New Year! One of the happiest parts is that in 19 days, we will have actual leadership in the White House, and not a moment too soon. As RedState reported, New Orleans suffered a horrendous overnight terrorist attack on Wednesday. A man in a white truck barreled down the famous Bourbon Street in New Orleans French Quarter and fired a weapon into the crowd, killing 10 people and injuring many more. The New Orleans Police Department and the FBI are sorting through the wreckage and identifying the suspect, as well as the victims. RedState will continue to report on the details as they unfold.

Since winning the election on November 5, President-elect Trump has pretty much taken on the mantle of Acting President through his commentary on Truth Social, as well as the actions he has been taking in forming his cabinet and setting national policy. After the NOLA attack, Trump issued a statement on Truth Social at 9:48 a.m. ET.

When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!

After the FBI bumbled their response when their special agent denied it was a terrorist attack, right after New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that it was, it seemed some face needed to be saved. So, when President Joe Biden sent out this statement at 10:05 a.m. ET, he took great pains to mention his national security team and to ensure the nation that his administration is still in charge and they have everything under control.

Right…

I have been continually briefed since early this morning by federal law enforcement leadership and my homeland security team, including Secretary of Homeland Security Ali Mayorkas, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, White House Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall, and the Mayor of New Orleans regarding the horrific incident that occurred there overnight. The FBI is taking the lead in the investigation and is investigating this incident as an act of terrorism. I am grateful for the brave and swift response of local law enforcement in preventing even greater death and injury. I have directed my team to ensure every resource is available as federal, state, and local law enforcement work assiduously to get to the bottom of what happened as quickly as possible and to ensure that there is no remaining threat of any kind.

I will continue to receive updates throughout the day, and I will have more to say as we have further information to share. In the meantime, my heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities.

Should have put the condolences closer to the top, Jack. This response is beyond tacky. And who is “Ali Mayorkas”? Whoever does his comms should have corrected this to “Alejandro,” but as we all know, the entire executive branch is asleep at the wheel.

The legacy media managed to catch Biden around 1:48 p.m. ET on the Andrews Air Force tarmac as he returned from Delaware. They immediately asked questions about the NOLA attack.

WATCH:

BIDEN: You’ve all got my statement, I’ll have more to say the next hour or so on what’s going on in New Orleans…

REPORTER: We understand that the person crossed the border?

BIDEN: I’m not going to comment in any specifics at all. I’ve contacted every agency in the federal government as well as the state, they’re all coordinating to get to the bare facts, so we know what the facts are.

REPORTER: Do you know if he was a foreigner or he was domestic?

BIDEN: I’m not going to say anything until I get all the facts in front of me.

REPORTER: Has the suspect been identified?

BIDEN: Again, I’m not going to comment till I speak to the group later. I’ve spoken to every member of the agency, to the CIA, to our national security team, to our FBI, NSC, and we’re getting, gathering all the [indistinguishable] I’ve spent a lot of time with the government, with the mayor.

REPORTER: What was your reaction?

BIDEN: My reaction was one of frustration and anger. Thank you.

What a difference between two presidents. Biden obviously wanted to be careful and not say anything that could blow back on him. This, even after it was he who threw the border wide open, then checked out, passing the ball to Vice President Kamala Harris, who we know failed to do anything. While his lying and feckless administration tried to cover, the country was plowed into a ditch.

Trump ran on securing the border and dealing with the illegal criminals who were wreaking havoc in our nation. This is one of the many reasons he resoundingly won the election. But even before Trump is sworn in, he continues to exhibit the leadership America needs in the midst of the vacuum we’ve experienced.

January 20 cannot come soon enough.
