Joe Biden spoke from the Rose Garden on Thursday morning with an audience of staffers, including folks like Senior Adviser John Podesta, so he would have a guaranteed cheering audience for his continued “long goodbye.”

I think the purpose of his remarks was to try to buff up his legacy, to present himself as having done something. He spoke about legislation that he had passed while occupying office. He also spoke about going forward after the Democrats had lost the election.
He actually looked pretty happy, so he didn’t appear to be bemoaning Kamala Harris’ loss all that much.

Biden spoke about the will of the people and how that “always prevails.”

Yes, and the will of the people was to reject you, Democrats.
He said he’d spoken to Trump to congratulate him and said he’d directed his team to ensure a peaceful transition.

I think if I were the Trump people, I would check for any hidden traps or issues. My concern would be about things more than just “missing Ws” (on the computers, as George W. Bush found from the Clinton people), given the vitriol of these folks. Democrats have tried so many things against Trump for so many years, to act like they’re the pure ones for “peaceful transition” is ridiculous.

But in the end, Biden’s remarks were like the Biden occupation of the office and the Harris campaign — decidedly lacking and empty. He claimed they’d left the best economy in the world, a claim that people who were suffering under it roundly rejected.

What was the purpose of the speech? While there was talk about accepting election results, there was no reflection on why they lost. “A defeat doesn’t mean we are defeated,” he said. Yes, it means exactly that. It means we rejected everything you guys stand for.
Indeed, Biden continued along as though they were the ones in the right in what he called the “struggle for the soul of America.” He said that we needed to “see each other as Americans” and “bring down the temperature.”
Yet, Biden is the one who called millions of Americans “garbage.” He, Harris, other Democrats, and the media were the ones who drove up the temperature by calling Trump and Trump supporters Nazis and fascists.
As CNN commentator Scott Jennings explained, the whole orientation and purpose by Biden and the Democrats against Trump just went up in huge flames — they lost. Trump and his supporters are stronger than ever. The American people don’t believe what the Democrats are selling and have rejected it wholesale.

As Joe Biden speaks today, his legacy is that Donald Trump has never been more popular or more powerful. Obama produced Trump in 2016, and Biden only served to strengthen him. Total failure of the Democratic Party. Last night on @cnn. pic.twitter.com/cZrd4pr6BA
