The Bills’ home matchup against the 49ers scheduled for Sunday night is under a winter storm watch, with snow and strong winds set to hit Western New York.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, a half foot of snow could fall near Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium, while ‘extreme cold’ could also also be present in the area.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has also called for potential low visibility, with snow on the roads potentially affecting travel.
Temperatures are predicted to be well below freezing with wind chill, while winds could exceed 20mph.
There is currently no suggestion that Sunday’s game – set to kickoff at 8:20pm – is set to be postponed, but the Bills are no stranger to games’ logistics being affected by weather.
Three of their games in the past 10 years have been postponed or moved due to severe winter weather, including the Bills’ wild card matchup versus the Steelers last postseason.
That game was initially set to kickoff at 1pm on Sunday but was moved back more than 24 hours to 4:30 on Monday.
A Week 12 matchup with the Jets was also moved in 2014 while a 2022 contest vs. Cleveland actually had to be played in Detroit.
Assuming Sunday’s game goes ahead, the Bills will be looking to extend their win streak to seven following their Week 12 bye.
Buffalo has not lost since their October 6 defeat to the Texans and will look to seize control of the AFC after handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are very much on the playoff bubble at 5-6 and badly need a win against the Bills.
