This is the former president’s third straight victory in North Carolina. In 2016, he won the state over Hillary Clinton, getting 49.83 percent (2,362,631 votes) to Clinton’s 46.17 percent (2,189,316 votes). In 2020, things were closer, with Trump getting 49.93 percent (2,758,775 votes) and Joe Biden getting 48.59 percent (2,684,292 votes).

As RedState previously reported, Trump, JD Vance, and their surrogates spent a lot of time in the state both before and during the early voting period, where Republican voters put in surprisingly strong showings in comparison to prior election cycles, a strategy strongly encouraged by Trump himself that ultimately proved to be a gamechanger.

With 54 percent of the vote in, Trump is up by 3.5 points.
