A bride has gone viral for revealing a ‘genius’ trick to stop her wedding dress from getting ruined at her wedding reception.
Influencer and comedian Hannah Brown tied the knot in a strapless lace gown from bridal designer La Premiere in Los Angeles last month.
After saying ‘I do’ to her new husband Jake, the happy couple let their hair down over Italian food at their reception dinner, which was held at Carondelet House.
To stop their expensive wedding attire from potentially being damaged by splattered food or spilled wine, Hannah and her beau both wore clear plastic raincoats as they dined.
Sharing a clip from the reception to her TikTok account, Hannah wrote, ‘This is your sign to get American Psycho raincoats for your wedding dinner so you can actually enjoy the meal without worrying about ruining your dress.’
A clear raincoat was memorably worn by Patrick Bateman, played by Christian Bale, in the 2000 film American Psycho.
Speaking to DailyMail.com about her decision to rock a raincoat at her wedding, Hannah explained that it all stemmed from her and husband Jake’s love of Italian cuisine.
‘Jake and I knew we wanted the beef option for our wedding dinner to be spaghetti and meatballs. We’re both obsessed with Italian food and the whole mood for the evening was inspired by one of our favorite Italian spots in LA, Pace,’ she shared.
‘That being said, I am an extreme slob. I could literally be sitting in a chair with my hands folded and find a way to get something on my shirt, so the raincoats felt like the only way to ensure I’d be able to enjoy dinner without the stress of potentially ruining my dress.’
She added, ‘Jake is actually a really clean eater, but he wore one with me in solidarity!’
The blushing bride admitted that she was initially hesitant to go with the protective gear out of fear that it would ruin the classy vibes of her big day.
‘I waffled on wearing them a bit because I was so excited to look and feel elegant for once in my life, but then I remembered how much I love eating with reckless abandon, so we went for it,’ she laughed.
‘I did, however, forget to take my raincoat off for my dad’s really heartfelt speech, so it served a double purpose of catching my tears.’
After sharing the moment to TikTok and Instagram, Hannah was inundated with comments praising her for the clever idea.
‘This is so epic,’ wrote one follower, while a second added, ‘Best idea ever!’
‘All the cool girls are going to be wondering how they too can pull off this look,’ wrote another.
A week earlier, Hannah shared a heartwarming post about her fairytale nuptials.
‘Got married to my favorite person surrounded by our favorite people a month ago,’ she wrote.
‘Thank you to our friends, family and amazing team for making it the best day of our lives!’
Speaking to DailyMail.com, Hannah admitted that she didn’t initially expect to love her wedding gown as much as she did.
‘It was the last thing I thought I’d wear and even came with a belt that I didn’t like, but the manager of Lovely Bride Chicago insisted I try it on and once we ditched the belt I instantly fell in love,’ she gushed.
‘I felt like Stefani Germanotta if she was Italian royalty. I loved how timeless and elegant it felt, with the structured fabric paired with the detailed cord lace,’ she continued.
Referencing her raincoat, Hannah added, ‘So naturally I couldn’t let my wedding spaghetti ruin it!’
