Brisbane tradie stuns after revealing his insane six-figure salary: ‘Bruh’

A first-year tradie has lifted the lid on the astonishing six-figure salary he is earning, revealing he is making more than seasoned teachers, nurses and police officers.

The young Queensland electrician made the revelation after he was stopped on the street by jobs app Getahead on Monday.

He revealed he was earning $50-an-hour working on the Queen’s Wharf, which is the largest construction project in the Sunshine State.

‘I used to work on the Sunshine Coast. I’ve been doing my apprenticeship for about a year,’ he said.

‘I’m getting like triple what I was.’

His hourly rate means he’s on at least $100,000-a-year.

It’s possibly more given tradesmen often work an extra half day on the weekend.

A second-year electrician working on Queen’s Wharf said he was earning $150,000 a year.

An young Queensland electrician has stunned Aussies with his first-year wage

Social media followers couldn’t believe how much cash the inexperienced worker was reeling in.

‘$50 an hour as first year? Bruh I’m third year apprenticeship plumber on $25,’ one wrote.

‘Huh? I made $6.30 first year in 2006. Why are people complaining about cost of living?’ another said.

The starting salary for a probationary constable at the NSW Police Force is $81,500 while a Constable Level 5 is on $92,281.

The average salary for nurses in NSW ranges from $70,000 to $98,000 a year.

The Queensland apprentice is one on the lucky ones however.

Pay rates for apprentices on union enterprise bargaining agreements, like the ones at the Queen’s Wharf project, are much higher than the award.

Most first year sparkies are on about $20-an-hour.

Those pay rates are the reason Australia is facing a tradie shortage.

New data has revealed there were roughly 2,000 fewer apprentices in 2024 compared to 2023 and 25,000 fewer non-trade roles like labourers.

Earlier this week, a boomer tradie shared a blunt message after young Aussies revealed they were turning down jobs because they didn’t pay six figures.

The 61-year-old said he’d spent four-and-a-half decades in the gritty plumbing industry but was making $180,000-a-year before he retired.

He said he only cracked the six-figure mark after putting in years of hard work and urged young Aussies to roll up their sleeves if they wanted a similar salary.

Last year, a laid-black tradie has casually revealed the eyewatering amount of money he can make in just one week.

The tree lopper from Queensland, in a TikTok video interview by Getahead, said he was earning $35 an hour but had previously raked in $26,000 cash for a 40 hour week.
