Caitlin Clark voted onto WNBA first team after whirlwind rookie season

Caitlin Clark continues to get awarded for her record-filled rookie campaign as the Indiana Fever star was named to the 2024 All-WNBA First Team.

Despite her team getting swept out of the first round of the playoffs, Clark continues to gather awards for her impressive performances.

On Wednesday, the WNBA announced Clark as part of the All-WNBA First Team with unanimous selections Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx and league MVP and Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson.

Joining them are New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart and Connecticut Sun ace Alyssa Thomas.

Clark received 52 First Team votes and 14 Second Team votes for 302 points.

Collier and Wilson finished with 335 points, while Stewart and Thomas had 65 and 39, respectively.

Clark joins Tamika Catchings, a seven-time First Team member, as the only player in Fever franchise history to earn All-WNBA First Team honors. The former Iowa Hawkeye was also named the WNBA Rookie of the Year on Oct. 3 and AP Rookie of the Year on Sep. 22.

This year’s No 1 overall pick is the first rookie to be selected for the owner since Candace Parker in 2008. Clark is also the fifth rookie to win the honor since 2000, joining Sue Bird (2002), Catchings (2002) and Diana Taurasi (2003).

Each member of the All-WNBA First Team will receive a $10,300 bonus. Meanwhile, members of the Second Team will receive $5,150 each.

Clark’s scoring ability has translated well from college to the professional ranks. With a 35-point performance in a barnburner win over the Dallas Wings on September 15, Clark broke the WNBA’s rookie scoring record.

She also broke the single-season assist record set by Thomas last season, dishing out 337 dimes this season.

Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and led the league in assists with 8.4 per game. The rookie sensation also led Indiana to their first playoff appearance since 2016.

The Fever season concluded after they got swept by the Sun in the first round.
