Channel Seven star Kendall Gilding undergoes major operation amid ‘crippling’ pain – just weeks after her husband broke his back in shock beach accident

Kendall Gilding is recovering after undergoing major surgery this week.

The former Channel Seven star, 32, revealed on Wednesday she had endometriosis surgery after suffering under the painful condition for two years.

She shared a candid video to her Instagram which captured her before and after the procedure.

‘It can be so hard to put yourself first. Yesterday I had endometriosis surgery, removal of severe adenomyosis and treatment of varicose veins,’ she explained.

‘This was the best laparoscopy I’ve ever had! Get yourself a surgeon who holds your hand while you fall asleep, but is also one of the best doctors in the country! Thank you.’

Kendall went on to explain endometriosis refers to ‘the endometrial tissue growing outside the uterus’ while adenomyosis is ‘the tissue growing into the muscle of the uterus’ and varicose veins are a result of having ‘babies and vaginal delivery.’

‘As a proud @endometriosisaustralia ambassador I know too well that there is no cure for this hideous disease and that it does not discriminate!’ she continued.

‘It has crippled me over the last two years. People mistakenly say pregnancy can improve it – that’s not true! In my case it was worse after babies!

‘If you want to know more or to donate – visit the Endometriosis Australia website. A link is in my bio! Now time to recover.’

Endometriosis is a disease in which cells similar to the lining of the uterus grow outside the uterus – often on ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder or intestines.

Many of Kendall’s friends and followers were quick to send well wishes to the former Seven star.

‘Big hugs. I can’t even imagine how painful endo must be,’ one person wrote.

‘Wow hell of a month or so for you and the family! Here’s to a quick recovery,’ another said.

‘I’m so glad you had a positive experience and good doctor. It can be a truly challenging time! Hoping you heal quickly and spend a life without too much residual pain,’ a third wrote.

It comes after Kendall’s husband Timothy was seriously injured after being dumped by a rough wave into a sandbar at Burleigh Beach in Queensland last month.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics in a neck brace and doctors initially feared that he wouldn’t walk again.

Kendall later shared her relief that Tim will make a full recovery and be able to walk again but didn’t confirm how much longer he will be in hospital for.

‘Praise the Lord that he can walk because lots of people that come in here with this kind of injury don’t walk out and he will walk and go on to live a normal life once his bones heal.’

Kendall also revealed that Tim wasn’t able to shower or sit up for days on end and had to be given sponge baths because he had to remain stationary.

‘Let’s talk about the funny things, Tim hates sand, hates it with a passion. How do I even get the family to do a beach holiday every year because he hates the sand so much,’ she said.

‘He brought most of Burleigh Beach into the hospital with him. When I entered emergency, you could follow a sand trail to his bed.

‘He had a bed covered in sand, he couldn’t shower for days, sit or stand or be in an upright position. He did get some sponge baths.’

Kendall is best known for having worked as a newsreader for Channel Seven for 12 years, but she stepped down from the network in December 2023.

She is now self-employed and has worked with Seven’s rival Channel Nine, reporting about a Brisbane crime spree on the Today show earlier this year.

Following her exit from Seven, Kendall has also been very active on social media, promoting brands as well as her column for QWeekend magazine.

Kendall began her journalism career in 2011 as a presenter on Brisbane radio station 96five Family Radio and later that year, she began working for Seven.
