Dan Rather is quite a piece of… work.
Now that President-elect Trump is once more inaugurated as President Trump, Dan Rather, who was once some kind of media figure, took to his Substack to warn Americans of the dire threat Donald Trump presents to the American people — although, we must note, that threat exists only in Dan Rather’s fevered imagination.

Newsman Dan Rather is not pausing his anti-Trump tirades like many other critics of the incoming president, and instead is urging his followers to resist President-elect Donald Trump and his policies.
On his popular substack Steady, the disgraced former CBS newsman on Sunday warned that Trump poses a threat to Americans and that citizens should not look away.
“Sticking our heads in the sand plays right into MAGA’s hands,” wrote Rather a day before America’s 45th president makes history by returning to the White House as the 47th president.
Like his allies on CNN, MSNBC, and other liberal news sites, Rather said that he is digging in to protest Trump for the next four years even as other notable media and business celebrities and titans are giving the Republican a grace period.
Here’s the thing: Dan Rather is a partisan hack, unworthy of being called a newsman or even an opinion journalist. I think I know a thing or two about being an opinion journalist, and while it’s all about advocacy — we make no pretense of being non-partisan — you still have to tell the truth. Dan Rather broke faith with his audience; he took a cheap shot at a Republican presidential candidate long before Donald Trump decided to run for the job, and Rather was disgraced, caught in a lie. Now, on the historic occasion of Donald Trump’s inauguration for his second term, Dan Rather is dissembling again.

Yes, a lie. It’s important to remember why Dan Rather is a former CBS newsman.
Witness a true tongue-bath of an interview at his old home network this weekend, PR for a documentary about the man’s life — and proof positive that he fought against truth in journalism and the truth lost.
Yes, Rather was forced out at CBS for his disastrous reporting on George W. Bush’s National Guard service, in which he relied on fabricated documents to allege that Dubya got special treatment and that his superiors had been ordered to lie about his record.
As all the follow-up reporting showed, it was utter nonsense.
But what, in the end, did that matter?
The narrative — that Bush was a nasty, evil, bad, bad, bad, bad man — was correct, Rather argued: Facts were and are irrelevant.
Remember, he stuck by the fake story for years and tried to make himself out as a victim of a sinister plot at CBS, when in fact he suffered only thanks to his own partisan rage and midwit hubris.
Rather also whines about Elon Musk, claiming that he “dragged X to the right,” failing to note how dissembling hacks like him dragged the legacy media to the left, and also failing to note that Musk didn’t drag X anywhere, he simply turned off the built-in leftist bias.

But here’s the great thing: Dan Rather isn’t going to pull it off this time. No matter what Dan Rather thinks, Donald Trump is now, today, once more President of the United States. He’s won, Dan, your side lost, and you can put that in your pipe and smoke it.
