Democrats Proclaim the Only ‘Good Billionaires’ Are the Ones Who Agree With and Give Money to Them

By any measure, 2024 was not a good year to be a Democrat. You had Joe Biden’s dementia that you had tried so hard to cover up exposed during a presidential debate. Then, Nancy Pelosi tried to help you and shivved Joe Biden out the door. Then your replacement candidate, who would have been so many “firsts,” turned out to be a word salad aficionado, often making Joe Biden look coherent. Finally, when you tried gaslighting the American people on a scale never before seen and insisted that they go along with your crazy ideas, they rejected you wholeheartedly. Yep, it was not a good year.

But all that is past now. In the immortal words of the First Lady of Minnesota, Gwen Walz, it is time for Democrats to “turn the page” (insert arm gestures here). The Democrat National Committee (DNC) is preparing to elect a new chairman after current chairman Jaime Harrison said he would not seek reelection. Among those in the running for the job is Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin. Martin was at a recent forum when he uttered this fountain of wisdom that, should he become DNC Chairman, he would only take money from “good billionaires.” He stated:

“There are a lot of good billionaires out there that have been with Democrats, who share our values, and we will take their money. But we’re not taking money from those bad billionaires.”

Martin’s comments came as he and the other candidates were reacting and responding to comments former President Joe Biden made during his farewell address about a so-called “oligarchy” taking shape in America, stating,

“This is a dangerous concern and that’s a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked. Today, an oligarchy is taking democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead.”

The true meaning behind Martin’s comments is easy. Who are the “good billionaires?” Well, the billionaires who agree with Democrats, that’s who. It is also an admission to one behemoth case of sour grapes. Since Donald Trump’s election, there has been a steady stream of billionaires who formerly supported Democrats headed to Mar-a-Lago. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, parent company to Google, Alphabet, Inc. co-founder Sergey Brin, and CEO Sundar Pichai, Elon Musk, and even Bill Gates. At their core, these guys are tech and business giants who watched as the Democrat Party became increasingly out of touch with and alienated the American people, the very same people who are their customers. Looking at the big picture, it is not hard to see why they decided to give Donald Trump and Republicans a second look. In the end, Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.

Make no mistake, none of these guys, with the possible exception of Musk, is going to become die-hard Republicans anytime soon. But with the GOP taking control of both the House and the Senate, Zuckerberg may have been the first to see the writing on the wall when he announced that Meta was getting rid of fact-checkers. He added that the company was going back to its “roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our policies, and restoring free expression on our platforms.” Zuckerberg, along with other tech titans, apparently saw the long-term benefits of playing nice with the Trump administration and donated hefty sums of money to Trump’s inaugural fund late last year. Especially since Trump is not expected to go easy on any form of censorship.

Fortunately, before he left office, Joe Biden helped everyone to understand who Democrats might designate a “good billionaire.” On January 4, he gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to far-left Democrat megadonor George Soros.

Whew! Glad Democrats cleared that up for us. The election for the new DNC Chairman and other officers takes place on February 1.
