Fans all say the same thing as NBA star Kristaps Porzingis is asked about playing on MLK day

Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis was asked on Monday night about playing on MLK Day – and fans were perplexed by his response.

Porzingis, who is Latvian, seemed to not know who Martin Luther King Jr. was when he was asked about facing the Warriors on the holiday.

‘It’s huge. Lot of celebration today,’ he said on TNT. ‘Good that we had some police escorts to get to the arena. And it’s always nice to play on a holiday.’

And fans were in agreement after the awkward interview that the Liepaja, Latvia-born player was not familiar with the civil rights icon.

‘He probably has no idea who that is,’ one said on X.

‘White European being asked about a civil rights icon is a crazy setup,’ another added.

The big man poured in 18 points and seven rebounds in a blowout win for Boston

‘Who is the idiot (are & idiots?) that green lit asking a white dude from Latvia about this?,’ a third fan asked.

And a fourth said, ‘He has no clue.’

Others suggested that Porzingis may have interpreted the question to be about Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Porzingis, who has played just 19 games this season due to injury, had 18 points and seven rebounds as Boston won 125-85.

The win moved the Celtics to 30-13 on the year – still 6.5 games behind the Cavs for first place in the Eastern Conference.
