Fans have slammed officials after Liverpool were awarded a penalty at Bournemouth.
After an even start to the match, Arne Slot‘s side were handed a spotkick after Lewis Cook was deemed to have fouled Cody Gakpo.
A VAR check followed and the onfield decision stood, with Mohamed Salah then converting from 12 yards to put the Reds 1-0 up.
However, fans believe Gakpo fell to the ground after tripping himself – and they took to social media to fume.
One said: ‘Liverpool gifted one of the cheapest penalties I’ve seen in ages. Gakpo trips himself up and gets a pen.’
Another wrote: ‘This isn’t a penalty, Gakpo tripped himself And I’m a Liverpool fan.’
‘The fact they checked only one angle and then said penalty is a disgrace as well,’ a third fan added on X.
