Citing an alleged renewed interest from the public, the FBI Thursday evening published “previously unreleased video” of the January 6th ‘pipe bomb’ suspect placing one device outside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

It is almost four years after the incident. And the FBI released a new video to the public in an attempt to identify the suspect.
“As part of a renewed call for tips from the public, the FBI posted on its Seeking Information webpage previously unreleased video of the suspect placing one of the bombs near the DNC and announced that it estimates the suspect to be approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall,” the bureau writes. “A reward of up to $500,000 is available for information leading to the individual’s arrest and conviction.”
The video shows the suspect, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt as seen in other videos, fidgeting on a park bench outside the DNC before shifting towards the bushes and planting the device.

The video also places a focus on the suspect’s Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes, which were unique enough that fewer than 25,000 of the sneakers were sold between August 2018 and January 2021.
One other identifying feature is the bureau’s estimate that the person in these surveillance videos is approximately 5′ 7″ tall.
David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, explained why the new information is just now being released.

“The tips the FBI has received so far have helped us advance the investigation, but they have not led us to identify the suspect,” Sundberg said. “Today, we are releasing additional information about the suspect—including that we estimate the person to be approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall—to encourage the public to take a fresh look at the Seeking Information webpage and contact the FBI if they recognize or have information about the suspect.”
Hard to take a “fresh” look when four years have lapsed.
READ MORE: About Those J6 Pipe Bombs…
To recap, you have a video showing a suspect who is 5′ 7″, wearing a unique pair of shoes, and was in Washington, D.C. on January 5th, 2021, during a very specific timeframe of 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m…. and they haven’t been able to narrow down the list to find this person?
Odd that they’re releasing this data while there are two ongoing terrorist investigations, one involving an ISIS-inspired killer who had been radicalized and posted multiple videos of his ill intentions on social media, discussing plans to kill his family and having dreams that helped inspire him to join the terror group, that the FBI somehow missed.
Almost like they’re trying to divert your attention.
Multiple terrorist attacks and the FBI goes “Squirrel!” by releasing magically found footage of the ‘pipe bomb’ suspect on January 6th.
Just a blatant attempt to divert your attention back to their belief that Trump supporters are the real problem in this country.

As you might imagine, X users were not impressed with the FBI releasing a new video of the January 6th pipe bomb suspect after years of essentially ignoring the pursuit in favor of jailing people who walked through the Capitol and took selfies.
“Your entire agency is a joke,” Sean Davis of The Federalist writes.
“Really strange how y’all were able to identify 1500 people who even so much as walked on the Capital grounds on January 6th, but you can’t find the person who planted the pipe bomb?” one disgusted person replied. “No one’s buying it.”
The FBI’s latest release coincides with an interim report released earlier today by the Committee on House Administration – Subcommittee on Oversight and the Committee on the Judiciary – Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antirust, which heavily critiqued law enforcement on that day and the investigation which has now spanned nearly four years.
As RedState reported, the joint effort focused heavily on the pipe bomb investigation and gave a very unflattering assessment of the FBI’s efforts.
It notes that the bureau “identified multiple persons of interest during the initial weeks and months of the investigation,” including one “who owned the same unique pair of sneakers as the suspect” and who worked “in the area of the crime.”
“To date, it is unclear whether the FBI has determined if this person of interest was involved in the pipe bomb incident,” the report reads.

“Despite its initial efforts, the FBI has yet to identify the suspect and has refused to provide the Subcommittees with additional information about these investigative leads.”

Why did the FBI drop this “previously unreleased video”? A clip of the suspect dropping the actual pipe bomb outside the DNC seems like it might have been handy evidence if they genuinely wanted the public to identify this person.
The bureau announced that they will continue to offer a reward of up to $500,000 for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest and conviction.
Have they tried cross-referencing the information on those shoes with all confidential sources shorter than 5′ 8″? They might get somewhere by doing that. Just a thought.
