A groom-to-be has been left furious after discovering that his own sister plans to wear a pale blue dress to the wedding – despite a clear dress code banning light colours.
The man explained that his 20-year-old sister had knowingly ignored the rule, even after being warned by another family member.
To make matters worse, the mother defended the choice, insisting the colour wasn’t an issue.
‘My other sister send me a text about my sister’s dress so I could confront her. She told my sister not to buy the dress because it was too light, and she said that she didn’t care,’ he revealed on Reddit.
The controversial gown in question is Peppermayo’s Annetta maxi dress in ‘pale blue’ which is listed under ‘wedding guest dresses’ on the website.
The figure-hugging, strapless gown with cut-outs at the waist and a dramatic metal embellishment at the front is undeniably eye-catching, but many believe the shade is inappropriate choice for a wedding guest.
Wearing a white or near-white dress to a wedding is one of the most infamous guest faux pas – right up there with proposing during someone else’s reception or bringing a surprise plus-one without permission.
The groom’s dilemma is age-old, with an Aussie influencer recently being slammed for wearing a ‘baby pink’ lacy dress and upstaging the bride at her father’s wedding.

Outraged social media users didn’t hold back their opinions, with many blasting the sister’s blatant disregard for the groom’s wishes.
‘For what it’s worth, someone wearing a white dress to another person’s wedding only makes them look like an a**hole. It does nothing to make the bride less special or gorgeous,’ one said.
Another suggested the sister was simply trying to be the centre of attention.
‘Is she single? Maybe she’s trying to hook up with someone there. But she’s definitely intent on trying to steal your thunder at the wedding which isn’t sisterly like nor respectful.’
Others ridiculed the dress itself, with one commenter likening it to ‘a white sheet from a mid-level hotel wrapped around the body and secured with a fancy shower hook’.
‘It’s like she got this wedding mixed up with a toga party invite,’ another wrote, while a third said, ‘Is the blue in the room with us? It it is, I must be colourblind.’
Some urged the groom to take action, suggesting she warn her sister that she won’t be featured in any official wedding photos of she insists on wearing the outfit.
‘Your sister knows exactly what she’s doing and if she insists on wearing this ugly, basic white dress to your wedding tell her beforehand that she won’t be appearing in any photos from the event- and make sure your photographer is aware as well.’

In the vein of inappropriate wedding guest dresses, another woman was previously slammed for looking like a ‘garbage bag’ and a ‘parachute’ – with shoppers especially stunned by the frock’s eye-watering $1,295 price tag.
A content creator recently shared that she went to a wedding wearing the Christopher Esber Cross Vine Micro Mini Dress in black.
The controversial dress is 100 per cent silk and features a draped train over the front of the right leg, with drawstring-like features cinching the fabric at the chest and waist.
Thousands were appalled anyone would wear the dress out in public – let alone to a wedding – and revealed their shock online.
‘Yeah, no,’ one simply said.
The dress was part of a limited-edition release and is not longer available on the brand’s official website, but some items are available to buy or rent second-hand.
‘It looks like a trash bag,’ an American noted.
Many were irked by the front trail, which some described as a ‘leg curtain’.
‘I love you but the piece in the front is agitating me,’ a woman said.
‘I think the dress would be cute if you just removed the thing hanging on the front. And if it was a bit longer. And for a wedding, maybe not black…’ another added.
