Now that the end of Joe Biden’s occupation of the White House is near, we’re seeing reports that dish on just how bad it was and how his “inner circle” went all in to protect him.

Among the things they did? They rearranged meetings to make sure Mr. Biden was in a better mood. They surrounded him with aides so the media would have more difficulty picking up his awkward walk that made him look so bad. They even had Biden use a teleprompter for small fund-raisers in private homes and asked people to provide questions for Joe in advance. That freaked out donors. And of course there were the infamous short stairs so he didn’t have to walk up the long stairs into Air Force One.
But that hasn’t stopped people from seeing how awful he’s been. Even this past week, when he announced the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, Biden had difficulties, confusing the Emir of Kuwait with the Emir of Qatar, saying Hezbollah (not Hamas) had invaded Israel on Oct. 7, and calling his National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan “Secretary.” He even had trouble with just signing a simple bill.

But there was a little bit more in that report: the chief folks running cover for Biden. The report pointed the finger at six people protecting Biden. And you likely could have figured out at least one of them.
Jill Biden, the first lady, and Hunter Biden, his surviving son, fervently believed in his ability to win. Mr. Donilon and Steve Ricchetti, the counselor to Mr. Biden, knew when and how to deliver information, along with Annie Tomasini, the deputy chief of staff. She and Anthony Bernal, the first lady’s most senior aide, took tight control over the president’s public schedule.
All of them are deeply devoted to Mr. Biden. All are adept at navigating his quick temper. All enjoy proximity to the most powerful office in American politics.
And all were convinced that he was the only one who could beat Mr. Trump.
Were they really “devoted” to him, though? Had he left, not run again, and they’d won, we’d probably not hear all these reveals now. We’d still be getting “he’s the greatest” and “put him on Mount Rushmore.”
But now his “legacy” is in tatters, with even Democrats throwing him under the bus. He’s even in a fight with the Pelosi family at this point. Or perhaps it’s most accurate to say Jill Biden is. Pelosi’s daughter even put the bee on her, calling her “Lady McBiden” before lashing out with some angry comments.

Not only were these six people hiding the truth from us, but they were fooling themselves, thinking they could do this and no one would know. And it came back to bite them because now people despise Biden.
Were they thinking more about him or more about their “proximity” to the power? If they had really been thinking about him, they should have had him go back to Delaware and never even run in 2020.
