Guy Sebastian has shared a heartfelt tribute to his wife Jules, just days after she announced the tragic death of her father.
The Battle Scars hitmaker, 43, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal the meaning behind his latest single, No Reason To Stay.
The video showed a reflective Guy in his kitchen making a coffee while discussing the poignant song, which is about knowing when to let go of a relationship.
‘No Reason to Stay is where you get to when you’re at the end of a really painful process because you’ve discovered the answer to what am I fighting for,’ the singer confided.
‘That question we ask in friendships, we ask it in work relationships, in our love relationships, in our family relationships.
‘We’re always waiting for this thing to drop out of the sky to tell us when it’s time to make a move. Sometimes you just need to go because you’ve got no reason to stay.’
Guy said that it was a question Jules, 44, does not have to ask due to the solid nature of their relationship.
‘Jules obviously doesn’t need to ask that question,’ he said.
‘She knows why she sticks around.’
Guy’s post was met with many well wishes from fans with the likes of: ‘Beautiful message!! I’ll be applying it today!’
Another jumped in with the similar sentiment: ‘That’s why we love you guy, @guysebastian your pure honesty.’
Others, however, were quick to suggest that Jules ‘sticks around’ purely because of Guy’s barista skills.
‘She sticks around cause you give her a good coffee ever morning,’ one follower quipped.
Another added: ‘I think your saying Jules stays for the great coffee you make her,’ augmenting the thought with a laughing face emoji.
Guy and Jules (née Egan) have been married for 16 years, tying the knot in 2008 after eight years of courtship.
The couple are also parents to two boys Hudson, 12, and Archie, 10.
Guy’s comments come after Jules shared the devastating news that her father had passed away this week.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, Jules paid tribute to the man she described as ‘the best Dad a daughter could ever hope for’ and shared a photo from her wedding day that captured a cherished moment with her father by her side.
The accompanying photo shows her father in a classic black tuxedo, beaming with pride as he walks his daughter down the aisle.
The caption began with the sorrowful announcement: ‘This week my beautiful Dad went to heaven to be with the angels.
‘Our hearts are broken but also so full of gratitude for the time we had with him in the last days of his life.’
Jules reflected on the unique qualities that made her father so beloved.
‘When I think of my Dad, I think of the twinkle in his eye. He was always ready for a laugh and a joke and had the lightest way of cruising through life. My Dad had time for everyone. He made everyone feel important,’ she wrote.
She described him as an easygoing, sociable person with a passion for music and art coupled with the ‘best handwriting’ she’d ever seen.
Jules went on to express how her father’s character had left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
‘There wasn’t a soul who knew him that didn’t love him. As this week has unfolded, I have been overwhelmed with how many people have described him as a “good man”. That he was. Just so good,’ she said.
Jules shared the deeply emotional experience of being present as her father took his final breath.
‘What a privilege it was to be in the room as my Dad took his last breath on earth. I wish I had words to describe it, but it will have to remain as unexplainable and very special,’ she wrote.
In her touching post, Jules also honoured her mother, who shared a remarkable 51 years of marriage with her father.
