I’m A Celebrity Australia fans threaten to ‘boycott’ show after major announcement: ‘I definitely won’t be watching’

I’m A CelebrityGet Me Out Of Here! Australia fans threatened to turn their backs on the reality TV show for good on Thursday following its latest contestant hint.

The Channel Ten series’ Instagram account shared a teaser video saying: ‘A headline grabbing Olympian has a ticket to the African wilds. They love freestyle. Will the jungle break them?’

Commenters said the terms ‘Olympian’, ‘love freestyle’ and ‘break’ all point to famous breakdancer Raygun, 37, getting shipped to the jungle next year.

‘I’m boycotting the show if it’s Raygun,’ one person wrote beneath the post.

‘I definitely won’t be watching it if she’s on it,’ another said.

A third added: ‘I will not watch if Raygun goes into the jungle.’

Raygun—real name Rachael Gunn—made worldwide headlines during the 2024 Paris Olympics when she entered the competitive multi-sporting event with a bizarre breakdancing routine.

The B-girl hopped around like a kangaroo and writhed on the floor like a snake as she scored a humiliating zero points from the judges.

While some hailed the Australian academic for becoming an overnight sensation, others slammed her for humiliating the country on an international stage.

If it is indeed Raygun who is entering the show, it would mark a backflip on her previous assertions that she was not interested in a career in reality TV.

According to a report by Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this month, the university lecturer is eyeing off a high-profile reality TV role potentially worth six figures.

The Channel Ten series' Instagram account shared a teaser video suggesting one of the stars heading to the South African jungle in 2025 will be an Olympic 'freestyle lover'. Followers guessed the hint referred to controversial Olympic breakdancer Raygun, 37, (pictured)

‘Raygun is close to securing a lucrative network deal any day now which could determine which celebrity reality show the notorious breakdancer will appear on,’ the source claimed.

It appears that the networks are not just looking for a brief appearance; they are eager to sign the Olympian for a long-term contract.

‘The TV networks don’t want to share her either,’ they said.

‘They are looking for “exclusive-network-deals” that could be 12 to 24 months long.’

There are reports suggesting that one of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was chief among the bidders.

A source familiar with the production informed Yahoo that Raygun is ‘very close’ to signing on to the reality show hosted by Julia Morris and Robert Irwin.

‘Raygun is one name at the top of the list who bosses have been working on since she went viral,’ the insider claimed.

Some followers were not impressed with the idea of Raygun being on the series and threatened to boycott the show if she made an appearance

‘Initially Raygun’s team declined, but now she’s realising her window to make big money is quickly closing—and it’s unlikely she’ll ever get a six-figure sum to do a show ever again,’ they said.

The claims come after Raygun admitted on 101.9 The Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick show recently that she didn’t think reality TV was a ‘good fit’.

‘I will not be going into the jungle,’ she said.

‘I have a very memeable face as we’ve seen. There’s been some amazing memes that have come out and I don’t think reality TV is the space for me,’ she said.

‘I’m looking to focus on things where I can really bring joy and to try and encourage people to be creative.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia is set to premiere on January 19 with hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris back at the helm.
