It’s no secret… I’ve tried and written about plenty of Kmart products good AND bad. So before you grab the pitch forks, hear me out.
The budget retailer has come a long way. What was once a ‘daggy’ spot for our mums and dads has become seriously cool in recent years – just ask the tens of thousands of shoppers who visit every week.
Not only has the chain been keeping up with all the latest trends, from fashion to homewares, but the quality has been improving with every season.
And what’s not to love about the prices? They’re so affordable, allowing customers to access to excellent buys – including ‘dupes’ – without breaking the bank.
With hundreds of items across Home & Living, Fashion, Beauty, Sports & Outdoors, Tech and more, it can be extremely overwhelming to figure out what to buy.
So, to help you decide these are five must-have items I personally back.
Arch Floor Mirror – $59
When I tell you my jaw dropped when I saw this new arch floor mirror for just $59, you’ll understand why. I have the exact mirror in my entryway at home, which I bought four years ago… for $549.
It’s a gorgeous, timeless mirror, perfect for placing next to your front door for a quick fit check – or as a clever trick to make a room appear bigger and brighter.
While the mirrors look the same, both standing at 170cm tall, there are key differences between the two.
Kmart’s version features a frame and bracket made of iron, weighs 9.35kg, and is narrower than the more expensive one I own.
The pricier mirror has a sturdy build, made of stainless steel with anti-corrosion mirror glass, weighs 21.5kg and is 60cm wide.
The quality between the two are vastly different – but for just $59, you can’t go wrong with Kmart’s mirror.
4L Blue Cast Iron Casserole – $25
I own a cast iron pot from Kmart, as well as a Le Creuset… While the quality can’t be compared, I can vouch that Kmart’s pot does a pretty good job.
I have cooked everything in the affordable casserole pot – including lamb ragu, homemade bread, Bolognese, soups and more – and I’m impressed with it.
I purchased the pot over six years ago and I still have it. It’s a great pot for cooking, and super handy to have around the kitchen.
That said, I do want to point out that my Le Creuset still looks as good as the day I brought it home, while my Kmart meringue-coloured pot has noticeable, stubborn stains from years of cooking that I haven’t been able to remove.
But if you’ve been reluctant to fork out hundreds of dollars on a high-end cast iron pot, you won’t be disappointed with Kmart’s. Bonus – the new pot comes in a fun, pastel blue colour.
Clear 2 Tier Turntable – $12
I own multiple two-tier turntables at home, which I bought from another retailer for more than $20 each. They’re so handy for organising everything, from herbs and spices to makeup and skincare products.
Not only does everything look neatly organised on your shelves or in your pantry, but you can also see everything in one place, so nothing gets forgotten or lost at the back of cupboards.
They’re a great storage solution that can seriously transform a cluttered cupboard, giving you plenty of extra space for other things.
Kmart has just released these turntables and trust me, you’re going to need a few.
Set of 3 Bag Organisers – $10
If your drawers are cluttered with zip-lock bags or you’ve run out of space, these clear dispenser organisers are a game changer.
Shoppers can ditch the unsightly cardboard boxes and keep the kitchen tidy.
What’s great about these dispensers is that they come in three different sizes (small, medium and large) – perfect for sandwich zip-lock bags, freezer bags and more.
They can be stored in a drawer or mounted to a wall if you have the space.
Riley Wave Floor Lamp – $49
I’ve been eyeing a similar fluted floor lamp for years but couldn’t justify paying $479 for it. Well, now Kmart has released a budget-friendly version for just $49.
The pleated lamp shade with a squiggle base adds a vintage-inspired look to any space and provides ambient lighting – perfect for when you don’t want to use your main light switch.
It’s definitely going to be a crowd pleaser and I can already predict that many will be adding this floor lamp to their shopping carts this year.
So, if you’re on a tight budget but want to update your home with a stylish piece, this floor lamp could be just what you’re looking for.
