With hours left to go as of this writing, Kash Patel’s confirmation hearing has already started with a bang. All but certain to become the next FBI director, Patel lit into the weaponization of government that targeted him and others under the Biden administration before cooking Democrats during their initial questioning.

Sen. Chuck Grassley began the hearing by reading some never-before-released emails exposing the FBI’s malfeasance over the last several years.
“I’m going to share information with you about the FBI that has never been made public before.”

What Grassley is referring to is the origins of “Artic Frost,” which was the codename given to the government’s attempts to prosecute Donald Trump for supposed election-related crimes. The emails he reads show clear collusion between officials to open a criminal investigation without a viable predicate.
From there, Patel launched into his opening statement.
KASH PATEL: “I know what it feels like to have the full weight of the United States government barreling down on you. I will ensure, if confirmed, that no American is subjected to that kind of torment.”pic.twitter.com/dHaDF1AkIr

PATEL: Senator, this may be one of the scenarios that most uniquely qualifies me to take command of the FBI. Having been the victim of government overreach and a weaponized system of justice and law enforcement, I know what it feels like to have the full weight of the United States government barrelling down on you, and as the Biden inspector general determined, those activities by the FBI and DOJ were wholly improper and not predicated upon law and facts.
I will ensure if confirmed that no American is subjected to that kind of torment, that kind of cost, financially and personally, and most importantly, I will make sure no American is subjected to death threats like I was, and subjected to moving residences like I was because of government overreach. Because of leaks of information about my personal status. If confirmed as FBI director, Mr. Chairman, you have my commitment that no one in this country will feel that pain.

Patel has a personal interest in this because he was subjected to a series of baseless investigations that ultimately led to nothing but financial pain and public hardship, which had become the government’s best tool against its political enemies under Joe Biden. The inspector general at the time found the DOJ and FBI acted improperly, using their power to spy on Patel.

Sen. Dick Durbin began his questioning by predictably ranting about January 6th. When pressed on Trump’s recent pardons and commutations, Patel responded by noting Democrat hypocrisy on the matter.
Durbin: Do you think that America is safer because the J6 defendants have been pardoned?
Kash Patel: America is not safe because of President Biden’s commutation of a man who murdered two FBI agents.
Durbin: He’s 80 years old.

Later in the hearing, it was mentioned that Biden also pardoned multiple convicted criminals who murdered children. RedState recently reported on one of those involving a drug lord who killed a mother and her son to stop them from testifying. That was blamed on an oversight, though the claim that Biden was just too uninformed about the pardons he was signing seems like a rather ridiculous excuse.

Long story short, Democrats have no room to caterwaul about the January 6th pardons after they sat idly by while the former president pardoned murderers, rapists, corrupt politicians, and even his only family members.
Sen. Lindsey Graham gave Patel a chance to talk about the abuse he’s taken due to the weaponization of his personal information.
Kash Patel: “Because of my personal information being released by Congress, I was subjected to a direct and significant threat on my life…I was called…a detestable…sand n****r who had no right being in this country…That’s nothing compared to what the men and women in law… pic.twitter.com/S8eMI2Ot6P

PATEL: Because of my personal information being released by Congress, I was subjected to a direct and significant threat on my life, and I put that information in the record. I had to move. In that threat, I was called a “detestable,” and I apologize if I don’t get it all right, but it’s in the record, a “detestable sand n***** who had no right being in this country…you should go back to where you came from…you belong with your terrorist home friends.” That’s what was sent to me. That’s just a piece of it, but that’s nothing compared to what the men and women in law enforcement face every day, and that’s why they have my support.
