Katie Holmes heads to Our Town set as Broadway production nears final shows

Katie Holmes was spotted cheerfully making her way to Broadway ahead of her production of Our Town’s final string of shows in New York City.

On Saturday, the 45-year-old actress kept a low-profile as she walked to the Barrymore Theatre.

She bundled up in a dark winter coat and bright red slacks while covering her brunette locks with a woven cream beanie.

Holmes accessorized with maroon designer sunglasses and carried a black purse over her shoulder while flashing a smile to fans.

Narrated by a stage manager, the groundbreakingly meta play revolves around New Hampshire village life at the dawn of the 20th century.

Amid a Spartan stage set, characters break the fourth wall, travel backwards in time and even return from beyond the grave.

And after weeks of stepping into the shoes of a Grover’s Corners citizen, the production is gearing up for its final stint of shows.

The final show is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

The revival features more diverse casting and includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston, Richard Thomas and Michelle Wilson.

Holmes stars as Mrs. Webb, mother to Deutsch’s protagonist Emily.

In an interview with Playbill, Holmes spoke about working on the show and the new approach to the universal story.

‘He didn’t want this to be a play about nostalgia,’ the Dawson’s Creek alum said referring to director Kenny Leon. ‘He wanted this to be a play about village life set against the stars, against humanity.’

During an appearance on the Tonight Show back in late November, the the ex-wife of Tom Cruise opened up about her pre-show rituals and what exactly she does to prep for a performance on Our Town.

‘They’re so lovely,’ the actress said of the baristas at the location. ‘Every time I go in, they know me and I know them, and they wish me a great show.’

The actress also revealed that upon her arrival to the theatre, she runs her lines at least two more times after already reading through them ‘about three times at home.’

She added: ‘One time I didn’t do it, and I was in the middle of a scene and I just said the whole line except the last word. I couldn’t remember it, and I made something up, but it didn’t make sense.’
