Kyle Sandilands’ ex Imogen Anthony slammed over ‘tone deaf’ tribute to Liam Payne after the One Direction star’s shock balcony death

Kyle Sandilands‘ ex-girlfriend Imogen Anthony has been slammed by followers after she posted a ‘tone deaf’ tribute to late One Direction star Liam Payne.

The influencer, 34, posted a photo to Instagram which captured her and a female friend posing up a storm with 1D when they were touring Down Under in 2012.

Imogen and her friend were all smiles as they posed alongside the iconic British boy band.

She captioned the picture, ‘Well s**t, that’s really, really sad. I was a big One D fan when they first hit the scene.

‘So I guess it’s pretty iconic to have this photo of everyone together in the early days. Ps my mate lost her virginity to one of them this night. Amazing.’

Imogen’s ‘tribute’ to Liam quickly ruffled the feathers of many of her followers, who took to the comment section to call her out.

‘I don’t even know who you are but thanks for reminding me to unfollow you. You are so tone deaf to say that, thinking you’re being cute and funny,’ one person sniped.

Imogen was quick to issue a cheeky clapback, writing: ‘Good, thank you. Glad all my years of animal rescue has come down to this one moment of you thinking me sharing a story is detrimental. Goes to show your character also. See ya.’

A second person criticised Imogen’s post, writing: ‘We didn’t need to know that your friend lost her virginity to one of them!!’

‘Oh well, now you do,’ Imogen retorted.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting the unnamed woman in the photo with Imogen had any sexual interaction with a One Direction member.

British singer Payne, 31, died after he reportedly fell from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires on Wednesday evening, according to TMZ.

Several witnesses told the publication that he had fallen from his balcony at the CasaSur Palmero Hotel shortly after 5pm.

According to reports, Payne was acting erratically and had to be escorted back to his hotel room before he plunged to his death – with hotel workers making a panicked call to police.

Police in Buenos Aires were contacted by a worker at the hotel who reported ‘an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol’.

Shortly afterwards, workers heard a loud sound in the hotel’s courtyard before the One Direction star’s body was discovered just after 5pm.

According to local media, Liam ‘had been acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop’ before he ‘had to be carried back to his room’.

The shock news of former One Direction star Liam Payne's death has emerged exactly six years after his last visit to Australia

Police had received a call from a worker at the hotel urgently requesting help with an intoxicated guest, according to audio related to the case obtained from the Buenos Aires security ministry.

‘When he is conscious he is destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone,’ the worker said.

Emergency medical services director Alberto Crescenti said Liam had suffered ‘very serious injuries after falling from a third floor into an internal courtyard’.

‘We verified his identity using the passport he had,’ he said.

Mr Crescenti told Argentine newspaper Clarin that ‘the team saw that he apparently had a fracture at the base of the skull’.

His body was transported to a local morgue where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Payne shot to fame in 2010 on XFactor with former bandmates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

The Night Changes singer had recently been spotted attending his former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert in the country earlier this month.
