“My work here is done.” Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, can rightly make that claim following a successful run as co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

Lara first joined forces with Michael Whatley to co-chair the RNC after former Chair Ronna McDaniel stepped down in early 2024. The two were elected to fill the vacancy in March and immediately, there were notable changes.

On Sunday evening, Trump announced that she was moving on to the next chapter.

Serving as the @GOP co-chair throughout the course of the most consequential election in American history has truly been the honor of my life. At the RNC, we had three distinct goals:
1) surpass all fundraising records
2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity and,
3) turn out millions of Americans and low prepencity voters during early voting.
We accomplished all three.
The job I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting.
Thank you to our incredible team at the RNC, our amazing @ChairmanWhatley, and, of course, thank you to President @realDonaldTrump — we are so proud of you and I’m grateful you trusted me in this position.

Lara Trump’s announcement followed her father-in-law’s confirmation on Thursday that he was asking Whatley to stay on as RNC chair.
So what comes next for Lara?
There’s heavy speculation that she will be named by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Marco Rubio (R) as he moves on to Secretary of State in the incoming administration.
Could a Trump Fill Marco Rubio’s Senate Seat?
It’s also possible that she could be tapped for an advisory role in the administration. Whatever Lara Trump’s next steps involve, she deserves credit (along with Whatley) for accomplishing the three state goals and helping bring home a win for President-elect Trump and a Republican-majority Senate and House.
