Manchin Absolutely Shreds Biden After Horrific Pardons

The reason you generally have pardons or commutations is because there’s a problem with the case. Maybe improper prosecution or some question about the evidence, for example.

In the case of the Jan. 6 defendants, there are a variety of questions along those lines — unfair prosecution and/or sentences.

But in the case of the 37 cases of commutation of the death penalty by Joe Biden, it was just because Biden — or the handlers behind him — thought that the death penalty was wrong. There weren’t any questions in any of the cases he commuted. Biden/the handlers were replacing their judgment for the rule of law. That isn’t the way pardons are supposed to work. Biden talks about the rule of law, but once again, he’s stomping all over it.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Florida) thinks it really isn’t Biden behind this, but it was the unelected leftist bureaucracy behind him finally getting in the things they want as he’s going out the door.

But on top of that, if you think about it, as CNN commentator Scott Jennings observed, it’s not even a principled stand on the death penalty anyway because it doesn’t include the remaining three prisoners on death row. So what Joe Biden is really saying with the 37 is that somehow those deaths, those people, those children, and the people who were killed are somehow worth less. And that’s shameful.

Even for Biden, who has done a lot of terrible things during his occupation of the White House, this was pretty bad. It was so bad he now has people like outgoing former Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) excoriating him over it on X.

After speaking to Samantha Burns’ parents, I believe it is my duty to speak on their behalf and say President Biden’s decision to commute the death sentences for the two men convicted in her brutal murder is horribly misguided and insulting.

Particularly since Samantha’s family wrote letters to President Biden & the Department of Justice, pleading for them not to do this, but their concerns were unheard. I can’t imagine the grief that Kandi and John Burns are reliving and dealing with during the holiday season.

As their U.S. Senator and a father, I want to express my deepest sympathy for their continued suffering. Please know that Samantha will forever be in our prayers.

Samantha Burns, 19, was kidnapped from a mall and murdered by two men who had broken out of prison. Her body has never been found, and her parents don’t even have that closure. The two men also murdered another woman as well during their crime spree, Alice Donovan, 44.

Bottom line? Biden and his handlers don’t care about the appeal of those parents. It means nothing to them; it’s all about achieving that leftist goal, regardless of the horrible crimes or how much it might hurt the families. That’s disgusting.

Multiply that same awful grief in all of the 37 cases. While Burns’ parents aren’t publicly speaking out more than what Manchin said, Officer Bryan Hurst’s parents and his wife weighed in on his killing.

His father said Biden was basically saying the legal system “doesn’t matter.” His mother said Biden pardoned his own son, but she was shocked he was willing to commute the sentence of the man who murdered her son. His wife said that Biden’s actions undermine the entire justice system and there was never a question of guilt.

Biden’s legacy is still being written, and much more is likely to come out about all the scummy things that went on to try to cover up for his cognitive decline. But Manchin is right, and these pardons will go down as perhaps one of the worst things he’s done, and that’s saying a lot.
