MasterChef Australia star Shannon Bennett has been roasted online after he shared a clip to social media of the way he makes scrambled eggs.
The celebrity chef, 48, posted the footage to Instagram, which captured him enthusiastically preparing the dish in his expensive $400 Le Creuset saucepan.
However, Shannon told fans he wouldn’t be making it the conventional way with ‘water, milk and cream’, which he explained would ‘dilute the eggs’.
‘It’s just eggs that are whisked up with a little bit of butter and salt. That’s it,’ Shannon told his followers as he got to work preparing the breakfast staple.
He then cracked raw eggs into bowl and began whisking them around with a metal spatula.
The culinary expert grabbed his expensive Le Creuset saucepan and poured the heated eggs into it, and then roughly scraped them around before happily telling his fans the food was ready.
‘It’s pretty easy to make scrambled eggs. Keep it simple,’ Shannon wrote in the caption.
Shannon’s fans were quickly whipped into a frenzy over his way of preparing the dish and took to the comment section.
‘I think you’re a great chef but I am old school, eggs, cream, butter, butter and more butter lol,’ one fan joked.
‘I love my scrambled eggs with butter and cream,’ a second person wrote.
‘Would Gordon Ramsay approve?’ a third user asked.
Some were outraged that Shannon used a metal spatula to roughly scramble the eggs in the expensive enamel saucepan.
‘No no no – and no to metal scraping an enamel pan,’ one said.
‘Metal on Le Creuset? Doesn’t that scratch the enamel?’ another asked.
Shannon, who shares six children with ex partner Madeleine West, debuted his new relationship with Erica over the Christmas holidays.
He opened up about his new romance with Erica, who is businessman James Packer’s ex-wife, to the Herald Sun back in March.
‘Erica is great,’ Shannon told the publication.
‘She’s really good, going back and forwards a lot. It’s a fun and amazing adventure, it’s amazing we haven’t met earlier. We’re loving life. I’m a very lucky man,’ he added.
