Mike Kehoe has won Missouri’s gubernatorial race.
Republican Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe and Democrat Crystal Quade faced off in Missouri’s race for governor.
Governor Mike Parson (R-Mo.) appointed Kehoe as Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and elected to a full term by Missourians in 2020. He previously served in the Missouri State Senate from 2011 to 2018.
“Mike sees his service in public office as a way of giving back to the community,” said Kehoe’s campaign website. “His priorities are simple: Provide every child with a world class education, expand workforce development to help every Missourian prepare and learn new job skills.”
Kehoe touted backing over $2.4 billion dollars in tax cuts, along with being a strong supporter of all constitutional rights, more specifically the second amendment.
He also centered his campaign around illegal immigration and making sure non-citizens can’t vote in U.S. elections, being pro-life, preserving the American dreams and more.
Crystal Quade was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2017, later becoming Democrat minority leader in 2019.
With abortion being a top issue this election cycle, Quade mainly centered her campaign around reproductive rights and healthcare. She’s also passionate about the quality of education and access to child care.
“Crystal is running for Governor to take on extremists in Jefferson City, who will ban abortion, birth control, and even IVF, and who will put the interests of wealthy political insiders above doing what’s best for Missouri’s working families,” says Quade’s campaign website.
At the time of this reporting, Kehoe won with 56.7% of the vote compared to Quade’ 41.3%
47% of the vote has been counted.
