Democrat Lucas Kunce faced off and lost against Republican incumbent Josh Hawley in the race for Missouri’s Senate seat.
Republican Josh Hawley, a former attorney general of the state, has held the seat since 2019.
During his time in office, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump endorsed the senator. Hawley has “worked across the aisle to deliver protections for kids online, led the fight for direct payments to working people during the COVID-19 pandemic, and taken steps to crack down on predatory landlords,” according to Trump.
Hawley has also rolled out proposals to protect U.S. workers from foreign trade cheating. The 44-year-old has been an advocate for ending offshore jobs while boosting more manufacturing in the United States, in order to not be as reliant on foreign nations.
As far as celebrity endorsements go, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker had some positive words to say about the senator.
“So thankful for Sen. Hawley for his pro-life stance,” Butker said. “For him fighting for strong borders. We have to protect this country and get it in order.”
As one of the top constitutional attorneys in the country, Hawley fights for the rights of the people. He has appeared in state courts, federal courts of appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Hawley was also one of the principal lawyers in the historic Hobby Lobby case, when he successfully challenged Obamacare in the Supreme Court.
In addition, he defended the rights of churches as a major lawyer in the Supreme Court’s Hosanna-Tabor dispute.
Democrat Lucas Kunce is an American attorney and Marine veteran.
He made headlines recently after he struck a journalist with a stray bullet fragment during a campaign event held in his backyard.
On X (Twitter), the Democrat candidate posted, “Missourians have a real choice in this election: A pearl-clutching and self-obsessed coward who has done nothing for them — or a Marine veteran who has spent his entire life trying to pay back the people who took care of him growing up.”
Kunce consistently posts on social media, bashing his GOP opponent and accusing him of getting rich while not paying attention to the state’s residents.
“After active duty, I joined the American Economic Liberties Project — the nation’s leading non-profit in the fight against monopoly power in our economy and our democracy. We took on the corrupt politicians and monopolists who threaten our national security, dominate our lives, squeeze small businesses out of our markets, and enrich corporate elites at the expense of everyday Americans — from Big Tech and agribusiness conglomerates to pharmaceutical cartels and defense contractors,” Kunce’s website states.
He also argues that our nation’s decisions should be made by “regular citizens,” not by powerful companies or those they paid off in Washington, D.C.
Kunce says that he is running for the U.S. Senate due to this sole reason: to take back power for working class families in Missouri and throughout the United States.
“Banning Russian imports in the U.S. won’t defund Putin’s war machine if Western Europe keeps buying his oil and gas. We can’t wait for them to do the right thing. If it means stopping the world from using American dollars to buy Russian fossil fuels, so be it,” Kunce said previously.
At the time of this reporting, Hawley won with 52.6% of the vote compared to Kunce’s 44.9%
46% of the expected votes have been counted.
