Nancy Mace Starts a Firestorm With Move to Ban ‘Trans Women’ From Women’s Bathrooms, Liberals Melt Down

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has started a firestorm by introducing a resolution to ban “trans women” from using women’s restrooms on Capitol Hill.

Democrats are accusing Mace of targeting Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE), a biological male who identifies as a “woman.” McBride will be seated with the new Congress in January after winning the election in Delaware’s at-large district. Mace, who is a rape survivor, said her resolution is about “standing up against the left’s systemic erasure of biological women.”

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is introducing a resolution to ban transgender women from using women’s restrooms at the U.S. Capitol.

Mace is expected to file the resolution on Monday.

She told Fox News Digital of the measure, “The sanctity of protecting women and standing up against the Left’s systematic erasure of biological women starts here in the nation’s Capitol.”

The South Carolina Republican plans to introduce a measure “prohibiting Members, officers, and employees of the House from using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex, and for other purposes,” according to text previewed by Fox News Digital.

It comes just before the first openly transgender lawmaker, Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, D-Del., is set to join Congress in January.

Of note is that while Democrats say this is just about punishing McBride, this would apply to all bathrooms on the premises, and there are no doubt more “trans women” who would be using the women’s bathroom than just the incoming Delaware representative. In response to reports of her resolution, Mace responded with the phrase “Full TERF,” a term used by “transgender” activists to describe people they claim are harmful to “transgender” inclusion.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), the Democrat who ran a failed primary campaign against Joe Biden, lashed out at Mace, demanding to know what she is “scared of.”

I think it’s clear what Mace and others are “scared of” in this case. They are scared of men being in their restrooms. Personally, regardless of what one thinks of the “transgender” issue, I believe women have an innate right to dictate their private spaces, from restrooms to locker rooms. It should not be up to them to live in fear and have to adjust to a relatively tiny portion of the population demanding access to something they aren’t biologically entitled to.

I would expect this issue to become more contentious. While some Democrats have suggested a softening on the “transgender” issue, others have doubled down, insisting that Republicans remain on the wrong side of the debate, both morally and politically.

As to whether this resolution will pass, it’ll be difficult. All it would take are a few moderate Republicans to vote no because it’s likely every single Democrat will vote along party lines. We’ll see what happens.
