NFL fans stormed social media with speculations when Aaron Rodgers appeared to get snubbed by Texans coach DeMeco Ryans after the Jets’ upset win over Houston on Thursday.
Following the victory, both teams proceeded with their handshakes when Ryans seemingly met the veteran quarterback with the cold shoulder.
After the clip went viral on social media, fans began linking the response to the recent firing of Robert Selah from the Jets head coaching job.
‘Probably thinks Rodgers had something to do with Saleh his mentor in SF getting fired,’ one fan wrote.
‘He got his boy fired wasn’t cool,’ a second added.
A third chimed in, writing: ‘Hey honestly i’m glad he’s mad hopefully this will encourage some actual changes to be made.’
While many stirred narratives, other users insisted that the clip was taken out of context and that the pair exchanged pleasantries beforehand.
‘I think they kind of acknowledged each other right as the camera switched angles,’ one wrote.
‘They dapped up in the beginning of the video when it was switching cameras,’ another added.
After having a terrible first half, Rodgers came to life after the intermission and led New York to break their dreadful five-game skid.
In the second half alone, Rodgers completed 15 of 18 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns. The Jets went on to win 21-13 to move to 3-6.
Despite not having the best record, Rodgers’ side sits second in the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills sit atop the division, while the Dolphins and Patriots dwell at the bottom.
On the other hand, the Texans remain on top of the AFC South with a 6-3 record.
