Olivia Dunne puts fears of TikTok ban to one side as she helps LSU gymnastics team beat Florida

Olivia Dunne helped her LSU gymnastics team win against Florida Gators with a near-perfect floor routine on Friday night.

The 22-year-old Dunne and her team won by a tenth of a point in the end with a score of 197.55.

‘There’s plenty of room to improve,’ Dunne’s teammate Haleigh Bryant told ESPN afterwards. ‘This one is a big one but this one is in the past.’

Dunne herself scored 9.875 for her routine in the two spot at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

Dunne’s teammates Aleah Finnegan, 9.950, and Haleigh Bryant, 9.900 also impressed on the floor.

Next week, Dunne and her team meet the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The 22-year-old Dunne is in her fifth and final year of college sports

Dunne is in her fifth and final year of college sports, an option she had available to her because she was on LSU’s roster during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to NOLA.Com earlier in January, she underlined her ambition to make the most of this gymnastics season.

She said: ‘My decision to come back was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have to seize every moment because I know it could be my last.

‘We will never get this team back, and we have a special group of girls.’

Away from gymnastics, Dunne is well known for her huge social media following with eight million TikTok followers and 5.3m on Instagram.

Earlier this week, Dunne joked on TikTok about the platform potentially being banned in the United States.

She uploaded a video of her holding her diploma and wrote as a caption: ‘Getting my LinkedIn ready… Me when my diploma comes 3 days before the tik tok ban.’

She added ‘#riptiktok’ alongside her caption.
