Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius has set his sights on becoming a husband and father as he has found romance with his first girlfriend since murdering Reeva Steenkamp, MailOnline can reveal.
The shamed Paralympian, 38, has begun a relationship with millionaire’s daughter Rita Greyling, 33, and locals near his home in Pretoria say the Blade Runner has fallen head over heels for the business executive who bears a striking resemblance to Reeva.
The couple have been dating for three months and have been seen dining at a restaurant called ‘Goddess’ near her family’s farm in Waterkloof, South Africa.
A source who saw them emerge from his Range Rover a fortnight ago said: ‘Oscar is clearly besotted with her and he only took his eyes off her to check they were not being photographed or followed.
‘They looked like they had been dating for ages and ages.’
Another source said: ‘As he had his coffee, he hid under a parasol as he feels uncomfortable being seen. But he was talking about how he wants to have a wife and have his own children.
‘He didn’t mention Rita, and I haven’t seen them together, but he is in the right place in his life to fall in love.
‘He has been out of jail on parole for a year and out of trouble too. He said he spends much of his time reading his Bible and being in his room at his Uncle Henke’s home.
‘It doesn’t surprise me that he is keeping his girlfriend low key. He still has a long way to go with his parole. But he is on the right path at least.’
The killer, who still has not confessed to his crime, has four more years of parole and is not allowed to drink alcohol or handle guns.
He must also keep out of Pretoria and Johannesburg nightclubs and live a reflective and reclusive a life as possible.
He is visited on random days and times by parole officers from South Africa’s Department of Correctional Services who check on him to see that he is keeping out of trouble.
Pistorius Is also undergoing anger management sessions to curb his violent behaviour which led to the shooting of Reeva.
Rita is a successful business executive and a farmer’s daughter who will one day inherit his millions.
She is one of three grown-up children of South African mega-farmer BP Greyling, 62, who owns sheep and cattle farms on 42,000 acres of prime land and has won awards for his expertise.
Based in Johannesburg, she is involved with helping Chief Financial Officers in Africa and the Middle East to excel in business.
She went to Ermelo High School in Mpumalanga passing Matric in 2009 then graduated from University of Pretoria in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering.
And MailOnline can reveal her long held family connections to Pistorius.
Rita is an old friend of his cousin, Arnoldus Pistorius, who has travelled abroad with him.
Five years ago, she and Arnoldus, who both graduated from the University of Pretoria, were together in Lijiang – a historic medieval city in China’s Yunnan province, where the Pistorius family are believed to have business links.
Rita and Arnoldus, who has since got married, enjoyed a fishing trip together months later and were photographed side by side on a small boat.
The Pistorius and Greyling families have known each other for decades and several members of Oscar’s family follow Rita on her social media including his brother Carl on Instagram.
Oscar’s Uncle Leo, 62, is follows Rita’s father on Instagram.
Leo’s wife Hermine is Facebook friends with Rita and her brother Ghini and another Greyling family member called Hella.
Hella also follows Oscar on Facebook.
The business link between the farm run by Rita’s grandfather are the agricultural companies owned by H Pistorius & Co that for a long time have been working with Rita’s father.
H Pistorius and Co was founded in 1944 by Hendrik Pistorius who was the Blade Runner’s grandfather. Oscar’s father Henken was one of the late businessman’s four sons.
Pistorius served nine years for shooting Reeva, 29, dead on February 14, 2013, claiming he mistook her for an intruder – and was released on parole in January.
Reeva’s father Barry, who passed away last year aged 80 ‘with a broken heart’ had quizzed Pistorius on the murder of his daughter.
He visited Pistorius in jail and asked him to swear on his own family’s life that he did not deliberately murder his daughter.
But Pretorius was unable to answer which the grieving father said was a telling moment.
