In its final weeks, the Biden administration and old Joe himself – or at least, whoever is pulling the strings on the increasingly non compos mentis president – are surely making every effort to screw over America’s best ally in the Middle East. In the latest news on that front, the administration on Monday released information on a list of sanctions against Israel while also announcing the pouring of $230 million in American taxpayer funds into Gaza and the West Bank.

That is, into Hamas’ hands, because it’s a near-certainty none of that money will be used for “humanitarian purposes.” This is unconscionable.
The Biden-Harris administration on Monday unveiled sweeping new sanctions on Israeli Jews, just days after it awarded another $230 million in taxpayer funds to the Palestinians. The back-to-back announcements signal that diplomatic relations between Israel and the outgoing White House will continue to sour until President-elect Donald Trump retakes office next year.
The new sanctions are the broadest to date, imposing unprecedented punitive measures on three Israeli organizations the administration accuses of fomenting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. They were leveled just days after a coalition of nearly 90 congressional Democrats petitioned the Biden administration to ramp up sanctions on Israel before leaving the White House.
The sanctions were announced just three days after the Biden-Harris administration awarded another $230 million in funding for humanitarian projects in the West Bank and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The American government has now sent more than $2 billion in taxpayer funds to the Palestinians since Hamas’s Oct. 7 terror spree on Israel—even as critics warn this cash is keeping Hamas on life support.

What are these people thinking? We – you and I, the American taxpayers – are funding Hamas under this scheme. We are funding the group that, on Oct 7th, 2023, committed the greatest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. I won’t go into the gory details; we are all already far too aware of the atrocities committed on that day, and there is no need to repeat that here.
Here’s the real howler:
The cash will support “economic recovery and development programs in the West Bank and Gaza,” including private sector initiatives, as well as “civil society strengthening, youth empowerment and education, and community level priorities.”
No. It won’t, and nobody with the self-awareness of an artichoke thinks it will. This money will flow to Hamas, which controls these areas, to pay and feed their fighters. It is delusional in the extreme to think Hamas has any interest in “economic recovery and development programs,” much less “youth empowerment and education.” These fuzzy-headed notions were doomed to failure before they were even conceived.
Israel is the only free country in the region, the only demographically diverse country in the area – Israeli Arabs and Muslims, remember, can and do serve in the government, be elected to office, and can serve in the military. At the same time, the converse is not true anywhere in the Middle East. Israel is fighting a battle for national survival, and the United States is helping the people who are trying to drive them into the sea.

The Biden administration can’t be shown the door too soon. It’s a shame the Constitution will make us wait until January 20th to see these people off, because they seem determined to go down screwing over one of America’s few allies in that troubled part of the world.
