People shocked after McDonald’s employee reveals little-known ordering fact

A TikToker has revealed what really happens when your McDonald’s order reaches $50 – and why employees dread when it happens.

Creator Kaalen posted a video of himself covering his face in exasperation while an on-screen caption reads: ‘when the order is getting closer and closer to the $50 mark and now you’ll have to stop them to get a manager.’

McDonald’s operations, according to the creator, requires a manager to oversee and confirm an order once it reaches the $50 mark.

This explains why once the order reaches that amount the employee must wait for the manager to punch in their code number and approve the transaction before resuming the order.

McDonald's employee and creator Kaalen shared his distress over $50 orders than require manager approval

McDonalds operations, according to creator Kaalen, requires a manager to oversee and confirm an order once it reaches the $50 mark

While it is unclear if this is across all or specific locations, one commenter wrote: ‘they had to turn this off at my store [because] the customers almost always have orders over $50’

Among most companies, when a customer pays cash using larger bills they are usually required to be checked by a manager as a part of fraud prevention policies.

This policy within McDonalds, however, appears to be for any transaction up to this amount, another commenter claimed their store had an even lower limit.

The commenter wrote: ‘it’s $25 at my store and my God, I could cry every time this happens’

Another said: ‘i would just memorize all the managers pins cuz I would get tired of this’

Kaalen revealed that the managers would often tell the employees their codes as they were usually 'too busy to come over there and do it'

Many viewers shared similar sentiments about manager approval on big orders slowing down the processes in fast food stores like McDonalds

To which Kaalen responded that sometimes managers would tell the employees their code to avoid the inconvenience, Kaalen wrote: ‘they’re always too busy to come over there and do it.’

Many have commented on rising prices meaning the $50 limit comes that much sooner now than it used to.

‘$50 is like 3 meals. Can’t even get 50 McChickens anymore,’ one said.

‘The way $50 isn’t even that much food at most fast food places now,’ another wrote.

Some were unaware the process happening behind the counter, one wrote: ‘as a family of 6 we always spend this much. I had no idea this was a thing’

Others have shared experiences where their place of work had similar policies causing chaos during their shift.

One said: ‘One time it was 100 and my manager was no where to be seen i was dyin’

‘[I] was in backbooth and someone wanted to add something to their order and i went “oh.. hold on i need a manager” so i stood their awkwardly as i waited,’ another wrote.

DailyMail has reached out to McDonald’s for comment.
