Police hunt for on-the-loose XL Bully that killed Staffordshire bull terrier and attacked owner at beauty spot

Police are on the hunt for an on-the-loose and ‘out of control’ XL bully that killed a Staffordshire bull terrier and attacked its owner at a beauty spot.

The large dog had been walking in Greater Manchester on the Seat Naze hill path in Waterfoot, Rossendale where it identified its victims.

Alfie, the Staffordshire bull terrier, sadly died as a result of his injuries with his female owner also suffering an injury to her hand – not thought to be serious.

Lancashire Police says the owner of the XL bully left the scene with the dog following the attack on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were called out at 2.38pm that day.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Rossendale on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control on Saturday. He has since been released on bail, pending further investigation.
