Sophie Cachia has reverted back to her maiden name Shaw, five years after her divorce from her ex-husband Jaryd Cachia.
While the former WAG retains her ex-husband and baby daddy’s surname in her Instagram handle, the name listed on her account is now her own.
The change comes as the 33-year-old proudly showed off her growing baby bump as she stepped out to celebrate Australian-owned Francesca Jewellery’s new range on Tuesday.
Sophie stood out from the crowd wearing a bright pop of cherry at the Parisian-themed event in North Melbourne.
The pregnant influencer went braless in a lingerie-style black bodysuit that she tucked into the Sofia suit by ‘relaxed luxury’ Aussie label, Raef.
She accessorised with peep-toe black wedges and a black leather handbag.
Francesca founders Hannah and Rachel Vasicek listed Sophie Cachia (Shaw) on their guest list of more than 60 influencers and content creators.
Sophie spoke about the confusion over her surname in June 2023, as she reflected on her sexuality, co-parenting son Bobby, nine, and daughter Florence, six, with AFL star Jaryd and reclaiming a ‘piece’ of herself after their divorce in 2019.
‘A lot of people have been asking me, ‘Which [name] are we going with?’’ she told Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast.
Jaryd’s surname is also the name of Sophie’s sleepwear business, CACHIA.
‘For me, it’s both. Cachia has been and will always be my family name. From a professional standpoint, I’m Sophie Cachia. My [sleepwear label] is Cachia. I’ve been separated for five years now, so it was never about getting my last name back.’
‘But there was a part of me that, as I’ve gotten older and I’ve really fallen into who I am, and coming from a family of four girls as well, where we all went off and got married, I thought: No, I want to take back a piece of me.’
She recently hit back at speculation that her ex-husband Jaryd is the father of her third child and clarified the ‘wild’ rumours.
Sophie recently revealed on Instagram last that she is expecting her third child and later confirmed she will be welcoming a baby girl.
She hasn’t confirmed the identity of the father or sperm donor, prompting fans to theorise that her ex-husband Jaryd, 33 – who has a new partner – might be the donor.
However, Sophie firmly hit back at the speculation as she clarified that Jaryd is not the father of her child in response to a probing question from one fan.
A follower asked her: ‘I’m so interested in your conception. Sperm donor? Jaryd? Plan to co-parent? Family parent? Not to be judgy but to learn and then support! Respect privacy completely.’
In response, Sophie called fans’ theories that Jaryd is the father of baby girl ‘wild’ and said she won’t be discussing the matter any further yet.
She penned: ‘I knew I’d face questions and intrigue and that’s totally fine and perhaps one day when I’m ready I will discuss everything.’
‘However something I wasn’t prepared for was the MANY assumptions/questions around my ex-husband being the father’.
‘Do you know many people having kids with their ex six years after separation lol?? Just because we have an amicable family relationship co-parenting our amazing B&F, doesn’t mean we’re making more babies together, wild. Leave him and his personal life out.’
She went on to urge people to stop questioning LGBTQ+ people about the methods they used to conceive as she described her fans’ questions as ‘intrusive’.
‘A baby is blessing the world – that is all. As I mentioned, if I choose one day to share – I will,’ she added.
The mummy blogger has had a colourful dating history after she split from her AFL star husband Jaryd Cachia in 2019.
She has struck up several back-to-back romances with high-profile sportswomen, including Matildas soccer player Alanna Kennedy, an engagement to WNBL star Maddie Garrick, followed by a romance with AFLW star Sophie Van De Heuvel.
Sophie hasn’t been linked to anyone since her split from Heuvel, though there was rumours she had started dating another basketballer earlier this year.
