Private investigator reveals how your partner’s new hobby can expose their infidelity: ‘It’s a sneaky cheating sign everyone misses’

If you’ve noticed your partner has suddenly picked up a new hobby, there may be something suspicious going on in your relationship, according to a private investigator.

Cassie Crofts, who runs a licensed private investigation service called Venus Investigations, gets paid to work on cases of unfaithful partners, whether it’s stakeout surveillance or a background check.

The PI, who splits her work between NSW and Queensland, said those who suddenly adopt a new hobby might be trying to impress someone they are having an affair with.

‘I’m a private investigator and this is the sneaky cheating sign that everyone seems to miss,’ Cassie said in her video

‘We all know the classics like guarding their phones with nuclear codes, sprucing themselves up like they’re going to be on The Bachelor or working so late they might as well live in the office.

‘But the sign people often miss is some passion for a new hobby. A new hobby on its own can be nothing… But if other signs are showing up, add this one to the list.’

Cassie explained that the suspected cheater could be ‘sneaking around’ with someone who has a ‘real passion’ for a particular hobby.

So, if you’ve had a gut feeling that your partner may be cheating – and all of a sudden, they have a newfound hobby – it might be the influence of someone else in his or her life.

‘It might mean they’re trying to impress someone else,’ Cassie said.

‘Listening to country music when they’ve always hated it, or suddenly starting surfing lessons when the closest they’ve ever gotten to the ocean was watching Finding Nemo, can be a sign that something else is going on.

‘I personally love the beach so if you need me to head down to the beach and do some surveillance, I’d be there in a heartbeat.’

Her video has been over 9,000 times, with many heartbroken spouses agreeing with Cassie’s tell-tale sign of cheating after discovering their partners were  unfaithful, often after picking up a new hobby.

‘I agree with this. My ex suddenly brought home a CD of someone who I knew he’d never liked, as he always made fun of that genre. Years later I understood when I found out what had really been going on. Funny what sticks in your mind after separation,’ one woman shared.

‘My ex was all of a sudden desperate to get a staffy dog. Kept sending me a post of an old dog at the pound. I bought him a puppy. Turns out it was his affair partner’s dog. I kept the dog and got rid of him,’ another revealed.

Meanwhile, one woman pointed out that the only way to determine if a new hobby is truly innocent is if your spouse suggests you join them.

‘That’s a bit of a clue,’ she said.

Earlier this year, Cassie revealed the biggest red flag in a relationship was a sudden change in a person’s spending habits.

‘This is the number one cheating sign that everybody misses,’ she said.

‘We’re basically a cashless society these days so if your partner has always been about tap-and-go, using a credit card for reward points and suddenly starts doing ATM withdrawals – that’s a bread crumb worth following.

‘Cash doesn’t leave a trail. If they go to a restaurant and spend $200, you can be pretty sure they weren’t dining solo.

‘But $200 cash withdrawal? You’ve got no idea what happened.’
