Radio star Lauren Phillips goes very ladylike in a demure blue dress for Oaks Day after partying with Carrie Bickmore in a low-cut dress during Derby

Rising radio star Lauren Phillips played by the fashion rules on Thursday as she stepped out during Crown Oaks Day at Flemington Racecourse.

The Nova FM breakfast presenter, 37, has been experimenting with her style lately and leaning into sexy and preppy dresses that are either cut low across her chest or graze her thighs.

But for ‘Ladies Day’ at the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Lauren played it safe with a puffy-sleeved, linen dress that reached her ankles and cinched her waist.

The Oaks Day dress code is feminine and elegant, with a focus on spring-time styles and shapes.

Style guides recommend soft colours such as pastels, pinks, and sky blues like the one that Lauren wore.

‘You can also choose bold prints with blooming blossoms,’ according to Australian fashion designer Sacha Drake, who also noted that ‘delicate fabrics like silk and chiffon are on trend.’

Lauren accessorised her sweetheart neckline with a delicate diamond choker and silver jewellery that complemented her baby blue frock.

She finished the look with a pair of nude strappy heels and a pop of pastel pink nail polish painted on her toes.

Compared to the vibrant and bold looks Lauren has worn throughout the Melbourne Cup, and her recent racing-themed cover of Stellar, the Nova host’s Ladies Day look paled in comparison, but nevertheless ticked the box.

Lauren attended the tracks with her radio co-hosts Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins’ and Clint Stanaway and posed for a demure portrait with her colleagues in the afternoon sun.

Jase wore a dark navy suit and white shirt, with a floral pocket square subtly nodding to the day’s theme, while Clint hammed it up in a lavender linen suit paired that he paired with a striking floral print tie and pastel pink corsage.

Lauren’s Oak Day and Derby Day looks were night and day, with the radio host revealing on Instagram that she enlisted the help of a stylist friend for the latter.

‘So lucky that one of my best friends in the whole wide world just happens to be one of the greatest stylists in the whole wide world and pulled this together (very last minute when I was in an absolute panic),’ she captioned some glamour shots taken before the fun kicked off.

Melbourne radio gal pals Lauren and Carrie Bickmore looked to be having the time of their lives together at Derby Day on Saturday.

The radio rivals exuded glamour and style as they laughed it up and made their way into the exclusive event together.

At one point, the pair were seen making a cheeky video and flipped the bird to their camera phone.

Fox FM presenter Carrie, 43, went braless and poured her figure into a very form-fitting white maxi dress.

Her stunning outfit came with a raunchy cut-out at her bust, which provided an intimate view of her décolletage.

The radio star accessorised with a black fascinator which matched her pumps and designer clutch.

Meanwhile, Lauren perfectly complemented Carrie’s white getup in a striking jet-black plunging gown, which showcased her ample assets.

Lauren’s jaw-dropping gown featured a thigh-high split which also showed off her long slender legs.
