Raygun tipped for major reality television gig ‘any day now’ despite shutting down rumours

After recently declaring she wasn’t interested in a career in reality TV, it appears that controversial break dancer Raygun is reconsidering her decision.

Rachael Gunn, 37, went viral for her unique performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the B-girl showcased her skills by hopping like a kangaroo and writhing on the floor like a snake.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the university lecturer could soon find herself in a high-profile reality TV role, potentially worth six figures.

An ‘insider’ told the outlet that Raygun is on the cusp of securing a TV deal ‘any day now’.

‘Raygun is close to securing a lucrative network deal any day now which could determine which celebrity reality show the notorious breakdancer will appear on,’ the source claimed.

It appears that the networks are not just looking for a brief appearance; they are eager to sign the Olympian for a long-term contract.

‘The TV networks don’t want to share her either,’ they said.

‘They are looking for ‘exclusive-network-deals’ that could be 12 to 24 months long.’

There are reports suggesting that one of the leading candidates for the role is from Channel Ten’s popular reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

A source familiar with the production informed Yahoo that Raygun is ‘very close’ to signing on to the reality show hosted by Julia Morris and Robert Irwin.

‘Raygun is one name at the top of the list who bosses have been working on since she went viral,’ the insider claimed.

They stated that while Raygun was initially indifferent to the idea of pursuing reality show fame, a lucrative contract might be just the incentive needed to have her kangaroo hopping into the jungle.

‘Initially Raygun’s team declined, but now she’s realising her window to make big money is quickly closing – and it’s unlikely she’ll ever get a six-figure sum to do a show ever again,’ they said.

The claims come after Raygun admitted on 101.9 The Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick show recently that she didn’t think reality TV was a ‘good fit’.

‘I will not be going into the jungle,’ she said.

She went on to admit the reason she wasn’t interested in a reality show appearance was her ‘memeable face’.

‘I have a very memeable face as we’ve seen,’ she said.

‘There’s been some amazing memes that have come out and I don’t think reality TV is the space for me.

‘I’m looking to focus on things where I can really bring joy and to try and encourage people to be creative.’

Earlier this month, Raygun ruled out the possibility of doing reality TV.

‘There were a lot of reality TV requests,’ Raygun told Nova radio following her Olympics stint.

‘And I just feel like going on reality television… I just feel like going on reality television is just not the right move.’

Raygun revealed earlier this month that she will not compete again after she received a barrage of ‘upsetting’ abuse following her performances in Paris.

While some were in awe of the Olympic breakdancer, including music sensation Adele – who recently paused one of her shows to laud the New South Wales-born dancer – Raygun was hit with scrutiny and criticism from many online.

On Wednesday, the Australian confirmed on Sydney’s 2DayFM Jimmy & Nath for Breakfast that she doesn’t want to compete again as she ruled out making an appearance at the 2028 Olympics.

‘It’s been really upsetting,’ she said. ‘I just didn’t have any control over how people saw me or who I was.’

Say in four years’ time, would you go, would you do the Olympics again?’ Nath said to the breaking star.

‘No,’ she replied laughing. ‘Nooooooo.’

When pressed over whether she would continue to break, Raygun replied: ‘I still Break, but I don’t compete. I’m not going to compete anymore. No. No.’
