Sam Haskell IV, the Hollywood super agent’s son accused of killing and dismembering his wife and murdering her parents, kept his spouse a secret from his friends and propositioned other women, a new docuseries has revealed.
Haskell, 36, is currently detained at LA’s notorious Twin Towers jail. He has been charged with his wife Mei Li Haskell’s murder, as well as the murders of her mom Yanxiang Wang, 64, and dad Gaoshan Li, 72, whose bodies have still not been found.
Investigation Discovery has put Haskell’s case under the spotlight in the latest episode of its show Death by Fame.
In the new episode, entitled In the Shadow, an anonymous contributor revealed that she met Haskell on a film set in 2012 and he asked her out on a date shortly after – but hid the fact that he was married and a father.
She said: ‘Sam was in the camera department, and I was in the makeup department.
‘I’m Asian and any Asian descent woman that would come to the studios, he would have interest for sure.
‘[He would have] the googly eyes, you know, stuff that I kind of got when I first met him.
‘He would do this to the Asian talents. Like [he] definitely [has] a type.’
The woman claimed that Haskell was ‘very quiet’ when she first met him, but she said she quickly got the impression that he liked her.
‘When we would be on set, he would always like look at me from across the room,’ she recalled.
After a couple of months of working together, she claimed that Haskell asked her on a date.
‘Never did I ever know that he was married,’ she insisted. ‘I’m getting goosebumps thinking about it and talking about it right now.
‘Like he came off as he was a single man looking for a relationship. That’s how he would speak to me now.
‘I found out this man had a wife and children. He had a family.’
The contributor said she was heartbroken after learning the truth about Haskell and his family.
‘Two years of knowing somebody and having them come in and have lunch with you,’ she said. ‘Not a word. Not a mention that I have a wife, I have a family.’
Haskell married Mei Lei in 2010 and together they had three sons.
Tremain Hayhoe, a friend of Haskell’s, also revealed that he was unaware of the accused’s marital status.
‘I didn’t know for the longest time that he had a wife and kid,’ he said in the documentary.
‘One time after a shoot, we went back to Sam’s place. We would go upstairs and Mei would be there with their newborn son and she’d be holding him.
‘He would just wave at them and go and do work. That’s something that I thought was a little bit odd.’
Friend Bella Snow also admitted in the show that she was surprised when she finally found out Haskell had a wife and three sons.
‘Everybody was all so shocked, like, wait, you [had] a family all these years?’ she said.
She also said that they had a ‘flirty’ relationship and that they had spoken about going on a date together, but he would repeatedly flake on their plans.
On November 7 2023, Haskell allegedly hired four day-laborers to take away several heavy black plastic trash bags from his home in Tarzana.
One of the laborers opened one of the bags and allegedly observed human body parts. They called 911 and reported the incident.
That same day, Haskell is said to have been observed and photographed a short distance from his home disposing a large trash bag into a dumpster.
On November 8, an individual who was looking through the same dumpster found a torso in a trash bag and called 911.
Haskell was arrested that same day.
On January 12, 2024 he plead not guilty to the murders of his wife and in-laws; at the time of writing, a trial has not yet been set.
