Shoppers unleash fury over major change to popular supermarket item

In a move sparking outrage nationwide, Yogo Mix has quietly removed its signature plastic spoon from the packaging, leaving fans of the nostalgic treat feeling robbed.

Food influencer Russ Eats summed up the sentiment in a fiery rant that has gone viral.

‘I’m in shock. They have removed the spoon from the Yogo Mix. No spoon, less plastic, same f***ing price,’ he exclaimed.

Painting a picture of childhood disappointment, he continued, ‘Could you imagine rocking up to recess, excited that your mum has splurged on [a Yogo Mix], but then you pull it out of your lunchbox and there’s no spoon?

‘You’d have to eat it with your fingers. This is a joke.’

While Yogo’s parent company says the decision reflects a commitment to reducing plastic waste, customers are not convinced, pointing out the irony of leaving a plastic gap where the spoon used to be.

‘The packaging still has the spot the spoon used to be in. It’s fully plastic,’ Russ lamented.

‘I get sustainability, and something is better than nothing, but I need a spoon to eat this. The whole point is that it comes in a neat little package.’

For fans of the chocolatey treat, the decision feels less about sustainability and more about inconvenience.

‘It’s a YoGO – yoghurt on the GO,’ Russ said. ‘How am I supposed to eat it without a spoon? This is completely different to a YoPro.’

Shoppers across Australia have taken to social media to vent their frustration, offering a mix of sarcastic solutions and genuine suggestions.

‘What bugs me is they’ve left the gap for the spoon,’ one commenter fumed.

Another added, ‘Why not at least put a wooden spoon in there? I rarely buy these – they’re way overpriced.’

Others shared their improvised strategies for spoonless Yogo consumption.

‘I use the aluminium lid and fold it up to be a spoon,’ one user revealed.

‘Or just eat it with your fingers!’ another joked.

Many parents claimed the spoon was 'convenient' for their children

Still, many couldn’t get past the mixed messaging of the move.

‘No plastic spoon, but the container is plastic? Make it make sense!’

One shopper suggested a creative twist: ‘Why don’t they change the shape of the lid where the spoon used to be, perforate it, and let that become the spoon?’

Another offered an edible solution: ‘My daughter suggested a cookie spoon so you could eat it after. Genius!’

The Yogo Mix isn’t alone in this cutlery crisis.

Other products like cup noodles have also removed their signature forks, leading to similar complaints.

‘There are no forks in cup of noodles anymore too. Really inconvenient the day I found that out,’ one frustrated shopper shared.

With no signs of spoons returning anytime soon, shoppers are left to get creative – or carry their own cutlery.

Many are calling for the gap in the packaging to either be filled with product or removed entirely.

‘Fill it with more Yogo or give us the spoon back!’ one customer demanded.
