Mega-rich Monaco are weighing up launching a loan swoop for Marcus Rashford despite him still being keen to play for Manchester United.
As reported by Mail Sport, the forward is fit and available for selection and he bears no grudge toward Ruben Amorim despite being dropped.
His future remains up in the air but talks over a temporary move are continuing, with Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Juventus among those interested.
Rashford hasn’t played for United in nine games, having been axed for the Manchester derby victory last month over his performance in training.
While he is not actively pushing to leave Old Trafford this month, a departure is still expected and The Sun claim Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have entered the race.
Indeed, the wealthy club are said to be weighing up an approach and would crucially be open to paying most, if not all, of Rashford’s £315,000-a-week wage.
United’s finances remain in a dire state and any potential departures may allow them to spend money to strengthen Amorim’s squad before the deadline.
Rashford has so far turned down interest from Saudi Arabia, as reported by Mail Sport, while AC Milan’s pursuit appears to have cooled in recent days.
Dortmund would likely need United to pay a large chunk of the 27-year-old’s salary and Barcelona currently look an outside chance in light of their own financial plight.
Last month, Rashford declared he was ‘ready for a new challenge’ away from his boyhood side and United are open to fielding acceptable offers.
However, it is also understood that he has been undertaking extra training sessions in a bid to keep fit, and he is available for selection against Rangers this week.
Rashford was working out at Carrington on Sunday while his teammates were preparing to face Brighton, and has been using a private fitness coach.
Sources say he is ready to give 100 per cent for the team.
But Amorim stood by his decision to leave Rashford out of the 3-1 home defeat at the weekend and refused to blame the forward for his side’s dismal run of results.
‘Guys, like you said it’s his choice,’ said Amorim. ‘In the last games that we lost, Rashford was not here. So I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford.
‘Rashford is out of this moment because he’s not playing. No matter what, I’m not going to put (in) a player that I don’t believe is the best for the team.’
