WATCH: Biden Gives Train Wreck Farewell Speech, Goes Ron Burgundy Again and Rants Aimlessly

What a fitting end to Biden’s disastrous tenure. Ever the empty-suited charlatan, he will go down as one of the two worst presidents in modern history, only rivaled by President Jimmy Carter.

He’s been on the line, he knows the questions, and he knows the answers. But most importantly, he’s committed to doing the best he can for the warfighters, not the military-industrial complex.

With His Farewell Speech, Joe Biden Fulfills His Destiny as Barack Obama’s True Heir

There is no apparent heir to the White House for the Democrats.

Giffords Uses Palisades Fire to Attack GOP Efforts to End ATF

But Giffords wants to ignore the many ways the ATF actively works against the American people so that you can look at this one thing that they very rarely are tasked to do, all things considered, and pretend that this is what the agency is all about.

Yes, all those clips really did happen. None of them were AI-generated, although now that I mention AI, you’ve now seen two doses of raw but real stupidity on display by Mazie Hirono.

Is This Proof That Biden’s Speech Was Prerecorded?

There were no jump cuts during his farewell address. So, if it was prerecorded they used the best take they could muster, and it wasn’t very good.

WaPo Columnist: CA Wildfires Is Going to Generate a Political Earthquake

We’ll see if that happens, but the population bleeding and the state’s loss of congressional districts and electoral votes is going to make things interesting.

In all seriousness, this person is clearly a nutter, whoever he is and whoever he works for.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

We’ve got a handful of additional confirmation hearings Thursday on the Hill. Those include:

  • Eric Scott Turner – HUD Secretary – Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs – 10:00 AM Eastern
  • Lee Zeldin – EPA Administrator – Environment and Public Works – 10:00 AM Eastern
  • Doug Burgum – Secretary of the Interior – Energy and Natural Resources – 10:00 AM Eastern
  • Pam Bondi (Day 2) – Attorney General – Judiciary – 10:15 AM Eastern
  • Scott Bessent – Secretary of the Treasury – Finance – 10:30 AM Eastern

(Note: We’ll be live-blogging Thursday’s hearings beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern.)

Aside from those and a couple of organizational/business meetings, the other hearing set for today is before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and bears an interesting title: “Hearings to examine Remain in Mexico; to be immediately followed by a business meeting to consider an original resolution expressing the sense of the Senate that the President of the United States possesses the authority under current law to take immediate and necessary action to secure the southwest border of the United States, and committee rules of procedure.” Translation: We think DJT can — and should — secure the border as soon as he’s sworn in. Oh, and by the way, Joe Biden could have done that but has chosen not to.

White House What’s Up

After receiving the Daily Brief in the morning President (four more days) Joe Biden and First Lady Jill will head to Joint Base Myers-Henderson Hall to deliver remarks at the Department of Defense Commander in Chief Farewell Ceremony. (Not to be confused with his Farewell Address to the Nation, which, I understand, went swimmingly.) Vice President Kamala Harris and Second (not a) Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also attend. After that, the Bidens will return to the White House. (They’ve got some packing to do, after all.) Let’s hope Joe and Jill don’t burn it all down on the way out the door.

Full Court Press…

The horse may be out of the barn on Volume 1 of (former) Special Counsel Jack Smith’s “Final Report,” but the parties (including attorneys for President-elect Donald Trump) will convene Friday for a hearing before Judge Aileen Cannon in the Southern District of Florida to determine whether Volume 2 should be released.

Meanwhile, today offers the last opportunity for the New York Appellate Division to issue its ruling in the appeal involving Trump’s civil fraud trial prior to his inauguration — not that it matters much one way or the other, at this point. Still, given that the appeal was argued in September, we’ve all grown a bit old and gray awaiting the decision.

That CNN defamation trial that our own Brad Slager has been covering so deftly seems to not be going very well for CNN.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

As of right now, we’ve still got South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s confirmation hearing (for Secretary of Homeland Security) to look forward to on Friday.

And Biden’s not done saying his goodbyes — he’ll address the U.S. Conference of Mayors Friday afternoon.

Lastly, we wait on pins and needles to see if the Israel-Hamas deal will come to fruition and hostages will be returned.

MORNING MUSING

Speaking of the hostages, Saturday will be little Kfir Bibas’ second birthday. It is thought that he and his brother, Ariel, and mother, Shiri, may be among those in the first group of hostages released if the deal is approved and Hamas abides by it. What is not known is whether they are still alive. I keep hoping and praying — for all of the hostages. But none have tugged at the heartstrings quite like baby Kfir. There will be time to critique the deal after the fact. But I’m sure I’m not alone in just wanting these babies and all of the remaining hostages to be brought home. Keep praying, friends.
