Trump Jokes About a Third Term, and You Can Practically Smell Kerosene As Libs Light Their Hair on Fire

President-elect Donald Trump made a harmless joke about serving a third term on Wednesday, prompting leftists across the social media spectrum to speed-dial their therapists.

Liberals once again faced off against their arch-nemesis – humor – and suffered another debilitating blow. Trump, being the equal to Hitler in their minds, can’t possibly have a sense of humor. And thus, he can not joke about things that are super-serious.

Comedy is undefeated in destroying their very dreams. And Trump did it again during a speech to House Republicans in Washington, D.C.

“I suspect I won’t be running again, unless you do something,” Trump said. “Unless you say, ‘He’s so good, we have to just figure it out.’”

Oh, man. Thoughts and prayers go out to our friends on the left.

“That was a joke. It was clearly a joke,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) said following the meeting, very much anticipating where the media would go with the comments.

Others sensed what would happen as well.

“That was a joke. I mean, he jokes all the time,” Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) added while his colleague, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), when asked about the comment, had to tell reporters, “Just stop it.”

They wouldn’t seriously get upset over such a mundane, obvious attempt at humor though, would they? That’s what we in the biz call a rhetorical question. Of course, they would.

The New Republic got things off and running with a screaming headline that reads: “Trump Makes Chilling Joke About Staying in Power Forever.”

The only thing chilling is that there are people on this planet with such a fixated Pavlovian response to anything mildly humorous coming out of Trump’s mouth.

Everybody’s favorite “white dudes for Harris” chimed in by reminding their followers of the Constitutional guardrails preventing a third term and wagged their little fingers, saying it wasn’t a laughing matter.

“I know you will all say, ‘he was just joking,’ but this is not something you even remotely consider joking about,” they lectured.

Boomer rube and Trump critic Wajahat Ali added, “There you go.”

“We never learn,” said Ali. “Actually editing that. I learn. But a lot of Americans don’t.”

Curtis Houck at NewsBusters points out that CBS had a bit of a “freak out” session over the comments, having to gently explain to their viewers that they needed to come back off the ledge.

As for it not being a joking matter, Barack Obama once quipped that he’d “be fine with” a third term so long as it involved him sitting in sweats in his basement and feeding lines to a “stand-in.”

That was a joke too. And nobody went apoplectic when he said it.

Of course, some would say that’s what he actually did during Biden’s term. But that’s neither here nor there.

Just to get on top of this for our friends in the media, no, Trump’s not going to run for a third term.

The Constitution of the United States limits the number of terms a person can serve as President through the Twenty-Second Amendment. This amendment, ratified in 1951, states:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was originally elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.”

Trump is already on record indicating he would not challenge the Amendment.

“I wouldn’t be in favor of a challenge. Not for me. I wouldn’t be in favor of it at all. I intend to serve four years and do a great job. And I want to bring our country back. I want to put it back on the right track,” he told Time Magazine in April.

Feel better now, libs? Of course not.

Listen, you’re going to have to deal with Trump and his sense of humor for four more years, minimum. With psychologists charging $250 per hour these days, that adds up to quite a hefty sum by 2028. And that’s a lot to absorb. Don’t make it harder on yourselves by wondering if he’ll tack on another four years.

Just sit back and enjoy the show. Learn to laugh a little. You just might like it.
