As I previously wrote, GOP presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump has been using his stump speeches since the RNC to roll out the economic policies that he and his running mate JD Vance hope to put in place if the ticket wins the election and takes office in 2025.

Among the plans Trump shared in the swing state of Arizona in September were, as he did in his first term in the White House, scrapping regulations that bog down the economy, specifically those that raise the cost of homes, using huge tracts of federal land to develop new home construction, and making all overtime pay tax-free.

On Thursday, Trump added to those policies during his speech at the Detroit Economic Club. Naturally, since he was speaking in Michigan, another battleground state, some of the focus was on reinvigorating that state’s prospects. He said people would soon be talking about “the Michigan Miracle and the stunning rebirth of Detroit”:

He also spoke about his policy on imposing tariffs, explaining how they can be used as a tool to leverage more jobs and money pouring into the U.S.:

Another plus, Trump said, would be that foreign companies would prosper because of the favorable economic climate and solid, American workers they would have access to:

Another new policy he announced during the speech was an additional tax cut: “[W]e will make interest on car loans fully deductible”:

On a more personal note, Donald Trump shared that one of his daughters is about to become a mom. The remark was prompted by the presence at the Detroit Economic Club of businessman Massad Boulos, who is Tiffany’s father-in-law. He said:

He happens to be the father of Tiffany’s husband, Michael, who’s a very exceptional young guy. And she’s an exceptional young woman. And she’s going to have a baby. So that’s nice.

Since this is a developing story, RedState will provide updates as they become available.
