But Tyra Banks was on solid footing on Wednesday when she made a splash at the grand reopening of Burberry‘s 57th Street store in New York City.
The 50-year-old supermodel was covered up in one of the brand’s iconic trench coats as she put on a show for the camera.
She was celebrated the return of Burberry’s three-level flagship store following a 16-month renovation.
Tyra and the rest of the celebrity guests were treated to cocktails and dinner to mark the return of the British luxury brand to its massive headquarters.
Fittingly, she was dressed in one of Burberry’s most iconic items — a trench coat.
Although Burberry coats have gotten shorter over the years as the brand has chased current trends, Tyra was decked out in an elegant long trench coat that paid homage to the classic design.
The coat’s hem reached down nearly to her ankles, making it look like a dress.
She stuck to another classic detail with a tan coat, but it was enlivened with a hypnotizing black, white and orange plaid pattern.
Tyra didn’t let the coat get too stuff and instead opted a casual style by rolling her sleeves up to her elbows.
She kept the care-free look going by simply tying the belt around her midriff.
The catwalk star contrasted the coat’s earth tones with white mule heels with long, square toes and large buttons decorating the top.
She accessorized with a pouch-shaped gold sequin-covered handbag with a thick metal chain, and she wore her caramel-colored hair in long, voluminous curls spread out over her shoulders.
Inside the reopening celebration, Tyra was pictured catching up with another age-defying beauty, Cher.
The 78-year-old singer and actress contrasted Tyra’s light-colored coat with a stark black trench coat.
Unlike Tyra’s her coat appeared to terminate around the knee, and it featured a striking oversize design with prominent padded shoulders.
Tyra’s appearance at the celebration comes after she made a splash as the closing model at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, which marked a return for the fashion show after nearly six years away.
Many fans praised her ‘iconic’ comeback on the runway, but others were disappointed at the surprisingly conservative outfit she was dressed in, which included a sparkling black corset and bra with matching leggings and heels.
