Valentine’s Day sex disasters: From nearly knocked out partners to near misses with the police and forgetting to wash hands after a spicy dinner

For loved up couples, February is the time of year to express their love via gifts and cards as they celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th of the month – but sometimes, the pressure of the occasion gets to them.

As partners prepare to adorn their lovers with chocolate and roses; some will also be looking to spice things up in the bedroom.

But lovers who are preparing to take risks in their sex lives may be setting themselves up for failure – with an increased chance of injury and, of course, embarrassment.

People from all over the world who suffered sex disasters on Valentine’s Day have been brave enough to share their stories online in cringeworthy tales.

From accidental black eyes to visits from the police, FEMAIL reveals the biggest bedroom mishaps that occurred on Valentine’s Day…

Accidental injuries

Content creator Graciemae Sinclair, from Australia, ended up accidentally injuring her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day in an attempt to woo him.

They had just been out for a ‘lovely dinner’ and so she wanted to give him the ‘Magic Mike 3000’ – however, she ended up slamming her shoulder into his face.

She said: ‘I basically gave him a black eye, I thought his nose was broken. My entire body weight landed right here [on his eye].’

In a desperate attempt to save the night from being ruined, Graciemae decided to try some other moves.

However, this turned into a second accident as she hit her partner in the groin.

‘I’m down here and he’s still recovering from his injury. I’m doing some lovely little tricks, I go to get up and guess where my hand landed? Right in the poor bloke’s crotch,’ she said.

Graciemae’s boyfriend then ‘curled up in a ball for a while’ before they both decided to call it a night, taking showers and going to bed.

Meet the parents

Speaking to O’Diaries, 22-year-old Ellie revealed a terrible tale from the big day of romance.

She had just began dating a man and wanted to give him a cheeky surprise on the most romantic day of the year.

Turning up at his door, she hoped for a movie moment in which she would unbutton her coat to reveal a sexy lingerie set – but sadly for Ellie, things didn’t pan out like she’d hoped.

She revealed: ‘Just like in the movies… A few years ago, when I had just started dating this guy, I thought I could surprise him on Valentine’s Day by turning up at his door – in nothing but sexy lingerie and a coat (just like in the movies, right?).’

Since the purpose of the daring plan was to surprise him, Ellie hadn’t mentioned to the man she was dating that she was planning to turn up.

Arriving at his door dressed to the nines, Ellie received quite the shock when the door opened.

‘I obviously never told him I was coming over and when I got to his place, his parents, who I had never met before, were there,’ she explained.

‘They even invited me inside! I had to stand around for a while making awkward conversation before I could make up an excuse and escape. They must have thought I was so strange – refusing to take my coat off or even sit down!’

Spicing up – in the wrong way

In another cringeworthy tale, 28-year-old Erin shared a story about Valentine’s Day sex with Glamour

Hoping to make the most of the romantic day, the pair had enjoyed a meal together, which Erin’s boyfriend had cooked from scratch.

After finishing their meal, things quickly went south.

As the two began canoodling, Erin had a sudden and urgent realisation that her boyfriend might not have properly cleaned up after their dinner.

‘My boyfriend made me an amazing Valentine’s meal, completely from scratch. Later, getting jiggy, I started feeling a horrendous burning sensation down there,’ she explained.

‘Turns out he hadn’t washed his hands properly after chopping chillies. I spent the night with nothing more exciting than a cold flannel between my legs.’

Neighbourhood watch

Speaking to O’Diaries, one woman detailed her horrifying near miss with the police after a sexy stunt with her partner went wrong.

Jackie, 44, recalled an embarrassing moment when her ex-boyfriend had attempted to surprise her with a roleplay situation – but ended up causing quite the stir among her neighbours.

She described: ‘An ex-boyfriend blindfolded me in his car and walked me across a car park in to the lift. Then he took me inside his apartment and sat me on a chair.’

‘After about 30 minutes he took the blindfold off and I was surrounded by flowers, balloons and candles.’

But despite the romantic setting, the mood was sufficiently soured when they had a surprise visit from the authorities.

‘All of a sudden… there was a knock on the door: it was the police! Someone had seen him with me and thought he’d kidnapped me,’ she said.

‘The police came in to check that I was okay. But declined to join us for dessert. Now we can laugh, but I was 19 at the time and quite embarrassed.’

And it’s not just in the bedroom that Valentine’s Day goes awry…

It’s not just inside the bedroom where people’s Valentine’s Days are going wrong, as many have shared online.

While some were left frustrated after ending up empty handed on the day, others describe discovering that they had been cheated and even one offer in ‘splitting’ and M&S dine it for two meal.

Daniel Godfrey, from Ireland, took his girlfriend out to a swanky restaurant to celebrate their relationship on Valentine’s Day.

However, as he recounted the meal on TikTok, he described it as ‘one of the most awkward moments I’ve ever experienced’.

He recalled arriving at the restaurant with his girlfriend; the pair dressed to the nines for Valentine’s Day, before sitting down to be served by a waitress who he claims was acting strangely.

Daniel claimed the server threw food on the table and told his girlfriend: ‘You deserve so much better.’

He claimed the waitress then looked him ‘dead in the eyes’ before telling him: ‘You are disgusting.’

At first Daniel was baffled by the encounter – however he soon realised what had happened, claiming the unusual behaviour was a case of mistaken identity.

He explained Matthew, his identical twin, also visits the same eatery with his girlfriend – which led the waitress to assume one man was two-timing different women.

‘I look at my girlfriend and I’ll never forget the look she gave me, it is ingrained in my brain,’ Daniel said. ‘I have never been more terrified in my entire life.’

Katerina Robinson, who often speaks about her dating life on TikTok, opened up about an experience on Valentine’s Day which left her feeling embarrassed at an M&S checkout counter.

She and her now ex-boyfriend opted to go for the supermarket’s dine-in for two range which consists of a starter, main, dessert and a bottle of bubbly, which as of 2025, costs £25.

Katerina, from Manchester, said: ‘We get to the checkout and he says to me “Do you want to split it?” At a checkout? Are you serious!

‘I totally get splitting the bill if you’re out having a meal somewhere but at a checkout, really?’

She claimed the sales assistant gave her a knowing look, suggesting she thought the suggestion was outrageous too.

Katerina dubbed the cringeworthy conversation ‘the worst Valentine’s Day story’ and said the entire experience gave her ‘the ick’.

She added: ‘I actually stayed with him after that, I must’ve been in a really bad place.’

However she did find a silver lining and added: ‘At least it was M&S, imagine if you were at Lidl.’

TikToker Elisha has also had her fair share of unfortunate Valentine’s Days over the years, even dubbing it the ‘worst day of the year’.

Last year, Tesco employee Roisin got dumped on the day before Valentine's and made a joke about 'blocking' him

Roisin's TikTok clip gained a lot of views, prompting people to speak about their disastrous experiences

She explained her hatred of the loved-up holiday began when she was dumped on February 14 by a boy she had been dating for two weeks.

‘I spent the entire evening singing Bruno Mars Grenade whilst crying into my microphone,’ she said.

The next Valentine’s Day she had was with a partner that she had been in a relationship for a couple of months.

Elisha said: ‘He decided that instead of spending the evening with me on Valentine’s Day like most couples do, or buying me a bunch of flowers, he instead was going to go on a night out with his housemates.’

While she was far from happy with his decision to spend the evening with his pals, Elisha reluctantly ‘let him go’.

However, a couple of days after her boyfriend’s night out, she claims to have found a ‘love bite’ on his neck, which he tried passing off as a ‘spider bite’.

‘It came to my attention that he spent Valentine’s Day in bed with someone else,’ she claimed.
