Peter Doocy through caution to the wind and went for it on Tuesday, asking White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre directly about a recent “awkward” meeting between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The setup is obvious. Harris stabbed Biden in the back, forcing him out of the race, only to go on to lose to Donald Trump in a landslide. You could imagine things being just a bit icy, especially after Jill Biden gave the vice president the cold shoulder on Veteran’s Day, refusing to shake her hand or even make eye contact despite the two sitting next to each other.

When Doocy asked Jean-Pierre about the interaction, she initially dismissed it, asking why it would be awkward. The Fox News reporter then left nothing on the table.
DOOCY: We know that today, a week after the election, President Biden and Vice President Harris had a private lunch. How awkward was that?
JEAN-PIERRE: I don’t even understand. Why would it be awkward? Why would it be awkward? Why would you…?
DOOCY: Because the president got squeezed out for her and then she kept him at arm’s length, and then she lost.
JEAN-PIERRE: But why would you characterize it as awkward? They have regular lunches. They meet and talk regularly. Why would you call it awkward?
DOOCY: So there’s no weirdness about the way that things unfolded with the election?
There’s more to this that we’ll get to, but right off the bat, Jean-Pierre tries to paint Doocy’s question as unintelligible. After all, why would it be awkward between Biden and Harris when the latter shoved the former under the bus and wouldn’t even let him really campaign for her only to get beat by Mr. “threat to democracy” himself? What a crazy question, right?

Jean-Pierre is a lot of things, and not very smart is one of them. She’s not that stupid, though, and she really shouldn’t pretend to be. Still, she persisted.
JEAN-PIERRE: Did you see them together yesterday as well when they honored our veterans and they were together during the day making sure that we didn’t forget the brave men and women that fought for this country? Did you see them together yesterday? Did you see the show of force together?
This is, I’m not even going to take the premise of this question. What I will say is, the president and vice president had lunch today. They’ve had lunch many times. They have, they communicate with each other regularly. They had an opportunity to discuss the last 70 days or so of this administration, how important it is to get things done for the American people, and that’s their focus. That is genuinely their focus.
Actually, yes we did see the Biden and Harris families together at that Veteran’s Day event, and as I shared above, it was an awkward, icy affair in which the First Lady wouldn’t even acknowledge Kamala Harris’ existence. So yeah, I’m not sure that “show of force” is the best example of unity to bring up.
If there was any honesty in this current administration, Jean-Pierre would just tell the truth. It is obvious that Biden (and his wife) hold Harris in contempt for the way she treated him throughout the election cycle. And why wouldn’t they? As I described above, she did the dude dirty. Instead of having his back, she slid right into the nomination and put Biden on the back burner while doing her best to pretend she wasn’t even part of his administration.

I don’t think Harris ever entertained the idea that she could lose and end up in this position. She did, though, and it is absolutely hilarious. For all the talk about her campaign being about joy, it did indeed bring me some the moment she lost. Just wait for the tell-all books. They are going to be wild.
