Wedding planner slams guests who list ‘sugar and carbs’ as dietary restrictions

Brides are fuming after asking guests their dietary restrictions when they RSVP and receiving details about their diet, as well as extremely specific (and strange) write-in requests.

The content creator who shared the video that sparked the discussion is behind The Wedding Swap, which provides planning services and promises to elevate ‘the wedding season with inspired solutions for a stress-free day.’

The Wedding Swap’s viral TikTok aired bridal grievances about dietary restrictions, which proved a hit with its 87,000 followers.

They received almost one million views and 86,000 likes from newlyweds and wedding attendees who took issue with the wild requests.

‘This is a public service announcement that if you get invited to a wedding, and when you’re RSVPing you put dietary restrictions – if you put sugar and carbs I’m sorry but you can just go eat with the rabbits,’ one of the wedding planners proclaimed.

On top of the video she wrote, ‘The bride and groom are not asking if you are on a diet, they are making sure you don’t go into anaphylactic shock. Sit down.’

The video received hundreds of comments from people who were shocked and explained that brides were looking for restrictions, not preferences.

Many brides had received specific notes about what people liked to eat, which they refused to send to their caterers.

‘Literally like I’m asking if you need halal or no tree nuts. I do NOT care about your opinions on seed oils,’ one bride said.

Multiple commenters thought that guests should bring their own food if they have a horrible allergy or were nervous about the dining offerings.

One woman with allergies said she usually brings her own meal, although she finds it embarrassing.

‘The only valid responses to that are allergies, medical conditions, or religious food laws,’ a commenter said.

Other women shared the wildest notes they received back, including someone asking for no spices and another person saying that cherries upset their stomach.

‘My cousin asked to make sure her child’s plate didn’t have French Fries on it, I’m sorry this isn’t a restaurant it’s a WEDDING.’

For others, the issue arose for their picky plus ones.

One former bride recalled, ‘For our wedding someone actually put down ‘Pls have mac n cheese or grilled cheese available as it’s all [their plus one] will eat.”

However, others were upset about the no sugar comment, explaining if someone was diabetic they would have limitations.

‘If you can’t have sugar because you’re diabetic you should put diabetic on the card not sugar,’ a commenter shot back.

One bride summed it up by saying, ‘I’m just not catering to anyone on my wedding day.’

They shut it down by adding, ‘You get the meal that’s served or you can leave and go eat at McDonald’s.’
