Multiple wildfires remain largely uncontained in California, with large sections of Los Angeles County already suffering immense damage. In a time like this, you’d hope even the most insane of partisans would put their ideological wants aside momentarily to focus on the task at hand.

That’s especially true when dealing with funding appropriations given this disaster will be the most expensive of its kind in history. Unfortunately, California is run by Democrats, and calling them insane wouldn’t even scratch the surface.
While the fires still raged, Gov. Gavin Newsom and his allies in the state assembly announced a deal on Sunday to spend $50,000,000. Is that money going to help those who lost their homes and need temporary assistance? Of course, not. It will be spent on, and not making this up, suing Donald Trump.
News: CA legislative leaders and Gov. Gavin Newsom have struck a $50M deal to Trump-proof CA, 2 people w/ knowledge tell @lindseymholden and me. Sets aside $25M for the state DOJ to carry out federal litigation, plus $25M in grants for immigration legal services/support groups.

Dozens of people are dead and entire portions of Los Angeles County have burned to the ground, but California Democrats called a special session to create a taxpayer-funded legal slush fund to “Trump-proof” the state. The perversion of priorities is so crazy that it’s hard to fathom.
California Republican Assembly Leader James Gallagher pointed out the inexcusable absurdity of the move.

At a time when California should be laser focused on responding to the devastating wildfires in LA, Democrat lawmakers’ priority is creating a $50 million slush fund to hire government lawyers for hypothetical fights against the federal government and to defend criminal illegal…

What type of things might California Democrats want to sue the Trump administration over? One look at the incoming president’s first term gives us an idea. For example, did you know Newsom and the State of California sued the federal government (and won) after Trump ordered more water diversions from Northern California to help prevent wildfires?

The Federal Court for the Eastern District of California granted in part a preliminary injunction yesterday against the Trump Administration’s efforts to increase water diversions from California’s Bay-Delta, which threaten endangered species including winter-run Chinook salmon, Delta Smelt, and other native fish.
In other words, this newly appropriated slush fund is going to be used to fight common-sense policies dealing with everything from the environment to illegal immigration. Meanwhile, Democrats in the state can’t keep the hydrants running and reservoirs full to combat devastating wildfires.

To California’s Democrat-leaning voters, it’s time for a change. You can’t keep living like this. It’s not sustainable financially or even physically at this point. Democratic Party excesses have already largely destroyed your state. The time to attempt a comeback is before the clock hits zero. Newsom needs to be recalled and there needs to be a political revolution that boots out the narcissistic, self-destructive legislators in the state assembly. Anything less than that is signing the state’s death warrant.
And for the love of all things, do not elect Kamala Harris as governor in two years.
